First of all, thanks to Allah SWT because of the help of Allah, writer finished writing the paper
entitled “FORMAL INVITATION” right in the calculated time.

The purpose in writing this paper is to fulfill the assignment that given by Mr. Rivan Setiawan
in arranging this paper, the writer trully get lots challenges and obstructions but with help of
many indiviuals, those obstructions could passed. writer also realized there are still many
mistakes in process of writing this paper.

because of that, the writer says thank you to all individuals who helps in the process of writing

A. Definition of Invitation

What do you mean by Invitation?

 According to Oxford Learner's Dictionary defines "invitation" as follows

a spoken or written request to somebody to do something or to go somewhere.
 According to vocabulary.com, the invitation is
An invitation is a request, a solicitation, or an attempt to get another person to join you at
a specific event..

B. Definition of Formal Invitation

Formal Invitation is usually issued by an agency or company. This Official Invitation is
generally marked by the abbreviation "RSVP" at the bottom of the invitation.

What is meant by RSVP?

RVSP is an abbreviation of French for Répondez S’il Vous Plait (Respond please / please reply)
in Indonesian means "Please response / answer".

From the two meanings of invitation above, we might conclude that the social function of
invitation is to invite someone to attend an event. .
In general, each invitation will be marked with approval by the following phrases:

o Would you like to join us
 o I would like to invite you

It can be marked with a variety of phrases and sentences that have the meaning of inviting
premises basic vocabulary "invite", "join", "come", "request", and others

E. Generic Structure Invitation English

The composition of sentences, phrases, or paragraphs of an invitation is usually called a generic
structure or schematic structure. In general, each invitation has its own uniqueness, but overall it
can be underlined that the invitation (invitation text) will be written with the following structure:
1. Invite: Who is invited
2. Body of invitation: The contents of the invitation are usually in the form of the following:
a. Occasion: This invitation is made for what event
b. Day or Date: Day and date
c. Time: Time set
d. Place: The place where invited guests are expected to be
3. Inviter: Who invites

 F. Types Of Invitation

There are 2 types of invitation : formal and informal invitation.

 Formal invitation is an invitation which follows a dignified form, tone or style in agreement
with the established norms, customs, or values (Webster, 2012). For example : graduation
ceremony, wedding, grand opening, etc. In order to strengthen your understanding about

 Informal invitation is a personal invitation given to a friend, family like birthday party, family
gathering.
