REFLECTION
FIELD STUDY 4-EPISODE 8 “The K to 12 Grading System “

We really need to know to innovate K to 12 Program in order to produce fully-booked,

globally competent, and skilled graduates who are proficient enough with the professional
competencies. Also, with the educational systems outside the country that ensure good and
effective education.
Therefore, K to 12 brings development to our educational system yet adds burden on the
affected individuals. Yes, it ensures better teaching-learning process in the long run but
empties parent’s pockets, drains teacher’s strategies, and increases cognitive load of learning
the higher order competencies intended for students in the first years of implementation.
Though abruptly implemented, for sure, we are going to learn how this K to 12 works and
step-by-step, it carries no more negative effect. Thus, let us be patient enough in dealing K
to 12 for in the long run, our educational system will be the best out of it.
In this K to 12 program, there is new grading system that will help the teachers in
computing the grades of their students. Scoring rubrics help the teachers in making the
grades of their students and has benefits brought to the teaching-learning process. Scoring
rubrics helps a lot on the part of the teachers especially in assessing learning of students with
regard to the process and product oriented performance. It is nearby a blessing since the
teacher will no longer rate the performance without valid basis. Teachers will be guided as
to their way of rating any performance.
