2. Read the online book “The Cat that Broke the Internet's Back”
This book tells the story of a cat called Munch. Munch was a very ugly and fat cat, who lived
with his beloved owner, Miss Emily. Spring began and everyone began to sing. Munch and
Miss Emily loved being on the porch listening to the singing of the toads.
One day, with Cleo living with them, they were at home and a bored Cleo tried to access the
Internet on Miss Emily's computer, more specifically the "FunnyOrSpit" website, a kind of
social network where people posted photos and videos.
While browsing the social network, Cleo had the idea of taking a picture of Munch and
uploading it to the social network, ensuring a Munch that would succeed. A few hours after
publishing the image, finally being viral.
Munch was completely horrified with the comments made to his photo. Munch tried to
deceive him, as Cleo told him that the Internet loved cats and that he would become a star.
Munch was crushed. All I wanted was Miss Emily, but that day I wasn't home. While trying
to take a nap, he started having nightmares. He heard voices laughing at him, saw fingers
pointing at him, heard words of hate and anger. They called him fat, ugly and disgusting.
Munch told him he was upset, because he didn't like the Internet and said horrible things
about him and that he was afraid that Miss Emily would think in the same way as these people
she didn't know.
Munch was worried, since you couldn't imagine a spring without toad songs. When Hal told
him that he should have laid the eggs in the big pond, Munch had the idea of digging a
channel from the big pond to the vernal pond. That way, we could save the tadpoles. This
eventually happened. With the help of swamp bugs, he dug to exhaustion and saved the
tadpoles, becoming a true hero. I was very happy to help. After saving the tadpoles, Munch
will look happy and will also look better about what happened on the Internet.
Cleo forgot about the problem and goes to the porch with Munch and Miss Emily. The story
ends with the three listening to toad songs, a weight that was already out of season. Cleo
takes the opportunity to apologize to Munch for all the damaged damage.
