Earthquakes are unique challenges for schools. However, with the proper
training and planning in advance, everyone in the school community can be
prepared to react appropriately during and after an earthquake. Many areas of
the globe are prone to earthquakes. You could be anywhere when an earthquake
strikes, whether at home, at work, at school or even on vacation. The drill aims
to evaluate readiness of learners and DepEd personnel to respond to situations
in times of earthquake.
`
This was spearheaded by the School Head- Sir Leopoldo A. Ignacio
Jr. and facilitated by Dagat-Dagatan Teaching Force, with the full cooperation
of 287 pupils from Kindergarten up to Grade 6, together with the parents and
other stakeholders. Teachers oriented the pupils and instructed them on how to
carry out themselves. During the alarm phase, pupils do the “Duck, Cover and
Hold” routine. They moved quickly and followed the designated routes to
evacuation areas.
