I. INTRODUCTION

A. BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Aloe is a genus of plants with more than 150 species. Aloe Vera is a species of
"Aloe", native to northern Africa. They usually have short stems, fleshy, lanceolate leaves
crowded in rosettes at the end of the stem, and the red or yellow tubular flowers in dense
clusters. Species vary in height from several centimeters to more than 9 m (30 ft); they are
widely cultivated as garden and tub plants.

Aloe Vera contains natural moisturizers that help retain moisture on dry and rough
skin. After you are finished sanitizing, the alcohol will evaporate off of your hand killing the
germs, and the Aloe Vera in our hand sanitizer will remain and form a protective layer on
your skin leaving it soft for you.

Nowadays people are really prone to diseases just by simply touching a dirty thing,
and commonly our hands are particularly one of the suspects on why we usually has germs
in our body that sometimes causes us to be ill, that’s why our group decided to make an
Aloe Vera Sanitizer. Aloe Vera gel has alleged to be useful for dry skin conditions, cosmetic
ailments, hair and scalp problems and many more. First we scrape the gel out of the Aloe
Vera so that our sanitizer would be sticky .We used Alcohol, Aloe Vera Gel, Tea Tree oil and
essential oil to make up to that sanitizer. We mixed all the materials and then after that we
stirred it and come up to an Aloe Vera Hand Sanitizer. Aloe Vera Hand Sanitizer is more
effective at killing microorganisms than soaps. Aloe Vera Hand Sanitizer helps us to kill
germs and bacteria`s in our hands. Aloe Vera Hand Sanitizer will help us stay our hands
clean and far from diseases that can harm us and lead us to serious problems or even
death.

Various preparations are available, including gel, foam, and liquid solutions. The active
ingredient in hand sanitizers may be isopropanol, ethanol, n-propanol, or povidone-iodine.
Inactive ingredients in alcohol rubs typically include a thickening agent such as polyacrylic
acid for alcohol gels, humectants such as glycerin for liquid rubs, propylene glycol, and
essential oils of plants. Alcohol based hand sanitizers are more effective at killing
microorganisms than soaps and do not dry out hands as much.

The researchers chose this topic to help the environment by getting rid of the germs and
to keep hands clean and fresh.

B. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Specifically, the research aims to answer the following questions:

● Sub-Problems Can homemade hand sanitizer can make our hands fresh and clean?

● What substances present in homemade hand sanitizer to kill germs?

● Is the Hand Sanitizer Effective?

● Is the Hand Sanitizer cools down our hands?

● Can the Hand Sanitizer make the 99.9 Percent claim?

● Is Hand Sanitizer better than Hand Soap and Water?

OBJECTIVES

GENERAL OBJECTIVES

To determine the effect of homemade hand sanitizer and commercial hand

sanitizer.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

● To discover the positive effect of homemade hand sanitizer.

● To differentiate the effectiveness of homemade hand sanitizer and commercial
 hand sanitizer.

HYPOTHESIS CAUSE AND EFFECT

-If there is a significant difference in using the homemade hand sanitizer and
commercial hand sanitizer, Then the homemade hand sanitizer will differ in terms of
effectiveness in our hands.

C. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

We choose this project because now a days, people come through many interactions
with things. People are really busy in preparing many stuff. People don’t really even care
about their safety about their health conditions. One of our main concerns is our hands,
Hands play an important role to everyone. Hands are very useful in any aspects. Our
hands do so much for us. They are capable of a wide variety of functions: touching,
grasping, feeling, holding, manipulating, caressing and more. They are vitally important
part of who we are and how we see ourselves. Our hands can perform extremely gentle
and precise actions such as writing a letter, painting a picture, threading a needle or
playing a violin. That’s why we come up to a decision that we will make a Hand Sanitizer,
so that we people can avoid germs to our hands. Once we touched a visible dirty thing,
that means our hands has already a germs that may harm us because we directly
sometimes touch our eyes, nose, ears, mouth and others, which may cause various
illnesses to us. By applying a hand sanitizer we can easily be free from those dirty germs,
because hand sanitizer works by stripping away the outer layer of oil on the skin. This
usually prevents bacteria present in the body from coming to the surface of the hand.
Aloe Vera Hand Sanitizer can help us be free from germs and other bacteria that is in our
hands. Aloe Vera Hand Sanitizer will make us feel that we are now free from germs.

This study is important to the environment, because it helps people free from germs.
And make their hands clean and fresh. There are times when there is no access to soap
and water or not enough time to wash thoroughly. This study can help the student by
expanding one's knowledge it is also very important because the students wants to
protect the environment and to help too much multiplication of germs in which can help
avoid infection.

D. SCOPE AND LIMITATION

It talks about the effectiveness of homemade hand sanitizer. The researchers are
going to make a homemade hand sanitizer so that the people will also prevent disease.
This study is all about the environment, community, the student, and the people.

The study will use homemade hand sanitizer as hand sanitizer. Because the
researchers wanted to help the community, environment, the student, and the people.
 They will help by making a homemade hand sanitizer in it. This study can help the
environment to decrease infections.
