Rhetorical Analysis Reflection
Rhetorical Analysis Reflection
My MEAL Plan
In high school I did not write papers. The most I have probably ever written was 500
words. Learning how to write on a collegiate level has been a bit of a struggle for me, but I am
enjoying the learning process. When I was told to write a rhetorical analysis I became scared. I
had never heard of a rhetorical analysis before and I did not know where to start. I then was on
youtube listening to music when the Billie ad began to play before my song. It immediately
caught my attention from so many different aspects. I ran with it and begined my outline.
Writing has always been a weakness of mine. My biggest struggle in writing this paper
was following the MEAL Plan. I had a hard time determining what is an analysis and was is a
link. I also had a hard time focusing on one specific topic for each paragraph. To address both of
these issues in my next paper I will create a more thorough outline to follow and make sure it is
strict to where I can clearly see the entire MEAL Plan for each paragraph. I found that the peer
review process was the most helpful when writing this paper. It helped me get a potential
viewer/reader opinion, while showing me exactly where I did not follow the plan. Furthermore, it
helped me generate new ideas on how to approach and form my paper by reading peers papers
The most successful part of this paper was me determining the difference and mentioning
the rhetorical appeals. The Billie ad made it hard to put one subject with one appeal and I liked
that. The author had used so many different strategic strategies in ways that appealed to more
than one appeal, showing that the author took his time and all precautions when creating this ad.
I noticed that pathos and logos were the easiest to find for me and ethos was a bit harder. If I was
to revise this paper for my portfolio I would better acquaint myself with the flow of the MEAL
I didn’t know if I could write a 5 page paper. My biggest fear for the research paper essay
is that I will not cite my sources correctly within the text. I am also afraid that I will not provide
effective research to reach the page length requirement. Overall, I am very proud of my paper. I
feel that I, as a writer, have grown for the better. I only want to go up from here. I fully intend to
