I mainly connected with this class by my life style and it’s a good thing too. Honestly I
really genuinely feel better by eating healthier foods. My family before usually buys foods that
are processed, vegetables that are not much of a variety, lots of meat and etc. Before I started to
take this class I was self-reelecting on what I wanted to be/ major in. So I started to look at the
things I liked, which was cooking and etc. Then I realized that somethings were not healthy.
That’s when I decided to take the class nutrition. Every day I go this class I’m always so excited
to go. That’s when I realized that this is for me. I want to major in dietetics and nutrition, but
combined with nursing, I like nursing too. A nutritional nurse. Taking my prerequisite for nursing
in SLCC this class is going to open my mind about health a lot. I can (in the future) advise
patients about their food choices. Right now I work as a medical assistant and one thing I notice
is that the new generations of Medical doctors are telling their patients to eat mindful and watch
what they’re eating before they give them medications for their conditions. Sometimes they
Before taking this class I thought I would just learn what foods to eat and that’s it. That’s
how you eat healthy. Now that the course is over that is only 1/8 of what we learned in that class.
Like exercising, how the body works with food, how processed food works, and etc. Honestly
the nutrition perspective assignment really open my mind about nutrition. The movie that we had
to watch for that assignment showed me the reality and the truth food and health. There’s one
thing to know and eat healthy, but another to see the side effects. The movie/assignment just
confirmed my learning. In the future I would tell my co-works to watch these movies. Especially
my co-workers. It is kind of ironic that they drink soda, and eat unhealthy foods as health care
workers. Hopefully they will get traumatized about the negative effects of food like I did. Ahaha.
