News Release
NexusGovernment to celebrate first annual benefit
dinner with state reps as featured speakers
Providence, RI - NexusGovernment, a social justice legislation advocacy firm, will hold
its first annual benefit dinner on March 28, 2011 at McCormick and Schmickʼs Seafood
Resaurant at the Providence Biltmore. Nexus has been on the front lines in advocating
for legislation that will reform the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth, and
Families.

NexusGovernment and its policy director, Nicholas Alahverdian, have recently received
coverage for his efforts to eradicate abuse and neglect inflicted upon children in state
and state-contracted placements.

The featured speakers at the event will be Rep. Roberto DaSilva (D-East Providence,
Pawtucket) and Rep. John Carnevale (D-Providence), and Nicholas Alahverdian. Rep.
DaSilva has introduced legislation that will prohibit the RI Family Court and DCYF from
sending children to out-of-state placements. Rep. Carnevale has introduced legislation
that will require background checks for all DCYF employees.
