Duties: The Volunteers will be assigned to work at the Havilah Orphanage Village and perform the following duties:

Day to day operation of the entire Orphanage Village which will include:

- Report directly to the HOV Director

- Coordinate daily activities of the children in your house (There will be 2 volunteers and 10 children ages 3-6 per
house) (Coordinators: See communication log dated 1/9/08 for more information)

- Maintain budget for your house

- Responsible for keeping journal/daily log for your house

- Administering medications to children if and when needed

- Maintain medical records for each orphanage child

- Day to day upkeep of house

- Supervise outings of the orphanage children

- Coordinate the sponsors visit and stay with the HOV Director (HOV has a sponsor program for the orphanage
children)

- Responsible for food preparation consisting of 3 meals per day

- Direct supervisor for the house worker/“auntie”

- Supervise children with homework

- House worker/“auntie” will relieve house parent during the day and also 4-5 days a month

- Laundry for the children

Acceptable Tanzania is a conservative environment. Therefore: Women: A dress is required, especially during work hours.
Dress: On recreational outings, long pants or longer Capri’s may be worn. Tops need to have sleeves. For Church,
dress shoes are needed. Flip flops are ok during work hours. Men: Must have a shirt with sleeves. Pants during
work hours. Long shorts on outings are ok. Flip flops are ok during work hours.
Unacceptable Women: No shorts or tank tops. Men: No shorts or tank tops. Trousers should be worn at the waist.
Dress:
Lodging (Requests for a specific gender or age must be related to accommodation issues, maturity, safety or culture.)
Lodging: Lodging includes: Bedroom, bath (shower/tub) with hot water. Electricity is 240V but there is one adaptor for 120V.
Twin Bed and bedding included. Bring your own toiletries and clothing, also available locally. There is a
supermarket in town that is somewhat Americanized. There is a vegetable garden on the compound that is
maintained by the guards. No need for bottled water, there is a well in place.
