Universal Design for Learning

iMovie is great for classrooms of all ages and levels. This technology can be used for the students to create for
an assignment or can be used to present a assignment by the teacher. iMovie is extremely user friendly and is
great for visual learners or for shy kid that don’t like to present in person can record themselves and then play
the movie for the class.
Lesson idea implementation:
The teacher will show the class the video she created using iMovie about using less straws to create less
pollution in the oceans. After displaying the video for the whole class to see the teacher with ago through
step by step how she was able to create such a fine video. Then the students will split up into groups of four
and pick a pollution topic that would like to make a video on.
The students will then go home and do some research their topic on their own. They will bring the
information they found back to school and collaborate with their fellow groupmates about their findings.
Together the group will make an iMovie video and once finished present that movie to the class.
Importance of technology:
Using this multimedia tool is critical to the project because not only is it a great way for the students to work
together but also learning how to use this tool is a valuable life lesson that can be used in the future. Without
iMovie the students my not be able to teach and learn with as great of depth as they could with it.

Inspiration (optional):
I used a video form Discovery Education to make my movie.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy:
Using this application is pretty safe on its own because there is not online or social media feature on its own.
While the students are creating their iMovie video it is completely private and con not be seen by the public.
The only place any of my students’ videos will be shared is in my inbox for my eyes only.

Reflective Practice:
To help enhance this project I would also introduce them to stop motion and ask them to create an informational video
on how to fix the pollution problem they have chosen. Once these have been corrected and finished, we will post them
on the school website to spreads awareness about pollution.
