A PIECE OF ADVICE
HAILEY ROBERSON 10/8/19

DESCRIPTION
“A Piece of Advice” is a podcast hosted by a college student, for
people who are consciously trying to improve their outlook or
attitude and become more optimistic! Listeners will hear from people
in different stages of life, as the host asks each speaker to mention
one thing from their day. The question asked will vary from episode
to episode! This is a must-listen for people of all ages!

TITLE OF PODCAST

“A Piece of Advice”

PODCAST TOPIC

In this podcast, I will ask a few different people “What is the best
piece of advice you’ve been given or learned throughout your life?” I
will then relay this information onto the audience in a happy, fun
way!

GENRE OF PODCAST

This podcast fits into the category “lifestyle”.

It goes into this category because it provides everyday advice for

listeners. After listening, people will have valuable information to
carry with them throughout their career, social life, family life, and
everywhere else they go!

DESCRIPTION OF HOST

This show will be hosted by Hailey Roberson. Hailey is a current

college student at Arizona State University and loves dancing, the
outdoors, coffee, and spending time with her friends and family. She
is currently pursuing her degree in Elementary Education and is very
excited about the chapter of life that she is in! Along with Hailey, will
be multiple people from different communities, that are going to
share some helpful tips and inspiration!

ESTIMATED LENGTH OF SHOW

The average length of each episode in this series will be around 25

minutes. After thinking about the variables that go into this, I’ve
decided that this is a great length for multiple reasons… people can
listen to it while doing everyday activities, without the concern of
boredom or having to pause the show in the middle. While on a jog,
cooking dinner, walking the dog, or even while commuting to work
are only a few of the different things you can do while listening to
this. This fits right in the middle of most podcasts, because it is not
too short, but not too extensive at the same time.

PROPOSED FREQUENCY OF SHOW

This show will have a frequency of twice a month. This way, it stays
constant without becoming repetitive or overwhelming.

PODCAST FORMAT STRUCTURE

1. Introduction/ music
2. Introduce host
3. Explain the topic of the show
4. Introduce guest #1, explain their background

2
5. Ask them the question and discuss for about 2 minutes
6. Introduce guest #2, explain their background
7. Ask them the question, and discuss for about 2 minutes
8. Introduce guest #3, explain their background
9. Ask them the question and discuss for about 2 minutes.
10. Wrap up/ conclude the results of the day
11. Outro with same music as introduction

I have chosen this format because it is organized and provides

structure, in a way that allows me to have flexibility to interact with
the different guests. It still shows the general set up throughout the
show though.

SCRIPT VS OUTLINEN
For the podcast, I will plan out what I will say for the introduction
and description at the beginning. This ensures that it stays on topic
and professional. When we get into the interviewing process, then I
won’t script it. It will merely be based on how the interviewees
answer the question and where the conversation goes for those
short minutes. This makes it feel relaxed, original, and comfortable. I
will plan what I will say for the outro though. This is a healthy
balance between scripting it and letting it flow!

COVER IMAGE

3
My cover image contains the bright blue sky, the sun, and the title of
the podcast. The background picture represents happiness and
seeing things in a new light. The different style I used for the words
represent how each person and their answer are unique. It also adds
a unique flair to the cover art, rather than having all plain text.
