Abstract.

Syntax has been used by people by centuries. Syntax is now used in so many aspects, such as
economy, business, technology, health, and in everyday life. Syntax means a set of grammar
rules in a word or clause in forming a sentence. Syntax knowledge also benefits the compilers of
lessons or textbooks. Syntax knowledge will provide guidance for textbook compilers in
compiling the right sentences, choosing vocabulary that is appropriate to the age level of the
reader. A syntax error is a grammatical or spelling mistake or an incorrect word choice given the
original words’ meaning or the document’s target audience. In our research, we are interested
to analyze the syntax errors written on public place signboards, goverment office, and shopping
center. This topic from our lecture Syntax because she think this syntax errors ofter occur in so
many public place signboards, goverment office, and shopping center. As we know, signboards
are made ti communicate a message to people using words or sign symbols. A good
signboardshould help the reader to understand the meaning easier. This research is a qualitative
one. The data are collected by taking the imagesof the signboardsthat havethe translation
errors. This research analysis uses the theory of error analysis by Dagneaux et al. (1996). After
the data of errors in syntax are collected, the data are then identified to check the syntax error
in Polish my writing.. This research expectedly provides clear examples of syntax errors and
clear analyses about the syntax errors using the theories applied.
