PREFACE

In order to survive in global market textile organizations

face a lot of challenges that their resolve every day.
Global competition compels companies to improve their
efficiencies to make their products better and cheaper.
Now assuming that textile processing machinery may be
reaching functional operating limits and unit labour cost
have been minimized than the industry must look to
streamline other areas of its processes to improve
efficiencies quality and to achieve further cost reductions.
This is the only by which our textile industry may be able
to meet the global market challenges in order to remain in
the competition.

In view of the above considerations we have selected

the project comparative study of dyeing of
polyester/cotton blends with different options of dyeing.
The aim of preferring this project is to study various
aspects and prospects of p/c dyeing as p/c blended fabric
is used widely in apparels and garments manufacturing.
We assessed the comparison of different dyes
combination to produce same shade at lower cost through
other option with almost same overall fastness properties
and suggested the low cost combinations of dye and
auxiliaries to produce almost same results.

The experimental work was carried out on polyester

cotton (50:50) blended fabric. Dyeing of above fabric was
carried out in light, medium and dark shades in Clariant
Pak Ltd.
