Should celebrities run in politics?

INTRODUCTION:

Is it not amazing that rich people can do anything and even the famous people can do many

things that they want. Some of these rich people are CELEBRITIES. Some of them have huge houses

and have many cars. If they want something they can have it. Well, my point is some of the celebrities

are in the politics.

Celebrities can use their charm when running in politics and of course they’re well-known people,

it will be easy for them to be elected. Do celebrity politicians do their job well? Maybe some helped the

country but some of them just sit and do nothing. My thoughts here are SHOULD CELEBRITIES RUN

IN POLITICS? Is it unfair? They run for politics because their famous and they have enough money to

enjoy life. Well, for me that’s a big no. I disagree with celebrities running for government posts.

BODY:

My first reason is they didn’t study for this or they’re not ready for it. They don’t have the exact

knowledge about politics. If they really want to be politicians, they must study about it. Not just

because they want it or they just thought about it. Some people study for this and they didn’t have the

chance to be in politics. According to Ed noel and Butterfield, seeing these celebrities in television,

movies, and magazines has earned them a social relationship and confidence that people can identify

with. This brings a feeling to the voters that they have a personal connection with the celebrities, thus

considering them as friends.

My second reason is some celebrities just used this as a retirement or side job. They knew that

they had a chance, cause they know that their famous and some people with vote for them, of course

they’re very well-known. The voters knew what kind of characteristics they have, there are two classes
of politician-actors. The first involves celebrities that are politically-minded; the likes of Clint Eastwood

and George Clooney would fall into this category. The second are actors, because of their popularity

with the masses, who enter the political fray. There are some interesting examples, including movie

superstars like Joseph Estrada and Bong Revilla.

My third reason is some of them use this as a comeback or they want to be famous again. My

example here is Lito Lapid, because he lost the fame he came back with the “game” and this is the

politics. He run for senator and some people said that his skills are not enough to become a senator.

According to Marsh, the strong amplification that celebrity voices have in public discourse could

potentially crowd out the perspectives provided by other less famous contenders. Having celebrities

as a part of this political process hardly levels the playing field of competition in terms of voice and in

terms of wealth. Perhaps even more importantly, the policies that celebrities endorse can devalue the

social problems and unpopular, controversial or unglamorous causes to which celebrities do not pay

much attention.

CONCLUSION:

Celebrities must not run in politics, even though they have the rights as a citizen. Some people

study for this and the celebrities politicians just pop up, run in politics. They have the fame and money,

isn’t enough for them?. If they really want to become a politician, they must study and work hard for it.

Celebrities running for elective officers has given an equal chance as everybody. They should be

decided depending on the policies and ideologies they have. Well, it’s up to us who we will vote and

we must be wise in voting for elective officers. We must not just based on their attitudes, we must

based them too in their politically minded.
