Often I am upset
That I cannot fall in love
But I guess
This avoids the stress of falling out of it Commented [AT1]: The speaker is talking about how they
are aromantic/asexual, and how it makes them feel sad
Are you tired of me yet? occasionally, because of the societal pressure on being in a
I'm a little sick right now relationship. They then go on to talk about how not being
able to fall in love might keep them away from heartbreak,
But I swear
and they've learned to accept this.
When i'm ready I will fly us out of here
Commented [AT2]: They are asking if people dont want
I'll cut my hair to see them anymore, or don't want to deal with them
because they are sick, most likely with a mental illness. The
speaker is saying once they are happy and healthy, they can
To make you stare help them, just like the speakers friend did to them.

I'll hide my chest Commented [AT3]: This is referring to being trans. The
speaker is talking about cutting their hair and 'binding' their
chest, so they appear masculine. "Make you stare" means
And i'll figure out a way to get us out of here. the speaker just wants someone to notice something is
wrong, and that they arent who they've always been.
Turn off your porcelain face
I can't really think right now in this place
There's too many colors
Enough to drive all of us insane Commented [AT4]: The speaker is either telling people to
get rid of their façade, and just be who you are, or telling
Are you dead? people to stop faking a smile. 'Too many colours' could refer
Sometimes I think I'm dead to anxiety or mental illnesses, and how the world is
overwhelming.
Cause I can feel ghosts and ghouls wrapping my head
But i don't wanna fall asleep just yet Commented [AT5]: The speaker is talking about the
thoughts in their head. They describe the thoughts as ghosts
My eyes went dark and ghouls, and think their dead because of the ghosts.
However, they dont want to 'Fall asleep just yet,' meaning
I don't know where they dont want to die yet, even if bad thoughts in their mind
lead them to want to.
My pupils are Commented [AT6R5]: This is a metaphor,

But i'll figure out a way to get us out of here Commented [AT7]: This could be either metaphorical or
literal darkness. If it was metaphorical darkness, the speaker
Get a load of this monster might feel like they are trapped or locked somewhere dark,
He doesn't know how to communicate that they couldnt get out of.
His mind is in a different place Commented [AT8]: This is referring to most of the worlds
Will everybody please give him a little bit of space negative outlook on trans people, and how they are
struggling, but a lot of people will just call them sick and
Get a load of this trainwreck wrong.
His hair's a mess and he doesn't know who he is yet
But little do we know the stars welcome him with open arms

Time is
Slowly
Tracing his face

But strangely he feels at home in this place.

T: Title

T: Theme

The theme is love and learning to live in a world of people who won’t accept you, among the ones
who do.
Annotation

I selected it for my theme of love. It fits because the author is lgtbq, and the song is about that too. It
contains allusions and metaphors, an example of an allusion in the poem is “Get a load of this
trainwreck”. This song is a mirror because no matter what you identify as or who you are, you can
find a part of the song that you can relate to or reflect on. It matters to me because I can relate to a
lot of the song, and it makes me think about others struggles.
