TRAVELOGUE: TRAVEL TIME

I. OBJECTIVE

At the end of the period, the students will be able to:

a. Judge landmarks if it can make Filipinos proud or not through face reactions
b. Advocate the landmarks of the Philippines by means of creative slogan
c. Create their own travelogue on how to promote the beauty of the Philippines

II. SUBJECT MATER

B. REVIEW

- Before we proceed to our next lesson,


again what was our lesson yesterday?

- Our lesson yesterday was about the


(Teacher will post unsequenced pictures on the story of “The Moth and the Flame”
board, the students will arrange the pictures in
correct sequence)

- Who were the characters in the story?


- Moymoy and his Mother

- Can someone go in front, and arrange the


sequence of the pictures based on what
happened in the story?
- Moymoy’s mother warned him not
to fly too close to the flame.

- Moymoy admire that lovely sight


of the flame burning brightly from
the oil lamp.

- Moymoy hovered so near the flame


that his wings got burned.

- Great Job! And what was the lesson you


have learned from the story?

- That we should obey our parents


because they know what’s best for

Instructions: Each rows will be given 4 pictures.


Using the pictures, they will be going to guess the
4 pictures in 1 word. They will write their answer
on meta cards and post it on their row board.

- Yes, very good. The four picture shows
different places where there are beautiful
body of waters.

- How about the group 2? What is your


answer?

- Monuments
- Very good! The pictures show different
monuments. Whose monuments are on the
pictures?
- Andress Bonifacio, Jose Rizal,
Lapu Lapu, Ferdinand Magellan

- Great Job! How about the next group?


What is your answer?
- Tourist
- Yes! That is tourists. Tourists came from
where?
- Tourists came from different
countries and visiting our country.
- Great! They are called tourists and they are
exploring the beauty of our country.

- Last group. Can you show us your answer?


- Islands

- Yes. The pictures show different islands of


the Philippines. And I have a quick trivia I
bet you already knew it. That Philippines is
composed of thousands of islands.

- Are they beautiful? - Yes

D. DISCUSSION
- So for today’s lesson, we will be going to
explore the beauty of our own country.
We’ll going to have travelogue about the
landmarks of the Philippines.
- Do you have any ideas about travelogue?
- Brochures with lots of pictures
about places
- I’ve seen video vlogs in youtube
were they explore from different
tourist destinations.

- Very good! Travelogue can be a brochure


that shows different places, speech, movie
or a piece of writing about someone’s
experience while traveling.
- Before we start, I will be giving you some
instructions. I have four (4) travel box here,
one box each group. I want you to get a
picture inside and pass it next to you, so
that the pictures will get distributed to
everyone in the group because at the end of
my discussion you’re going to post the
pictures on your row board in their
corresponding regions if it is located in
Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

(The students will use their face cards in judging a


landmark if it can make Filipinos proud or not.)

Criteria for judging:

Heart React – The place has a great


beautiful view, well visited by the tourists, can
only be seen in the Philippines, it can make
Filipinos proud.

Wow React – The place showcase a


thrilling and fun activities but few tourists visit the
spot

Sad React – The place is beautiful but


does not given necessary care or attention.

- Every time I raise my “Response Card”,


you will be going to raise your face cards
based on how you judge a landmark, is it
clear? - Yes teacher
The Philippines is known for its rich natural
resources and man-made structures. It has beaches,
historical places, old churches, parks, and
monuments. They are often visited not only by
Filipinos but by tourists as well. These have
become landmarks that make us truly proud to be
Filipinos.

- Do you know what are these places?


- Pagudpud beach
- Shrine of Our Lady of Manaoag
- Herritage Village in Vigan
- Very Good. It seems like you are already
familiar with these places.

In Luzon, people visit Pagudpud and Heritage


Village in Ilocos Sur, the Shrine of our Lady of
Manaoag, Alaminos City’s Hundred Islands, and
the Lingayen Gulf in Pangasinan.

- What is in the picture?

- Rice Terraces in Banaue


- Great.

Also in Luzon are the famous Rice Terraces in


Banaue, also called the “Eighth Wonder of the
World”.

- The Banaue Rice Terraces are terraces that


were carved into the mountains of Ifugao
in the Philippines by the ancestors of the
indigenous people. It is commonly thought
that the terraces were built with minimal
equipment, largely by hand

- But did you know that there are lots of
riceterraces in Ifugao just like in Mayoyao
Ifugao, in Kiangan Ifuago where
Nagacadan Rice Terraces is located and so
much more.

- Have you been in San Fernando

- Yes teacher
- What do you think are the landmarks we
can found there?
- Zoocobia
- Can you share something about your
experience in Zoocobia?
- We went there for a fieldtrip. It is a
place where we can feed animals
like birds. Animal shows and horse
riding.

- Wow! What a great experience.

- You can also visit the Dinosaur island in


Mabalacat Pampangga, Sandbox and
hiking experience at Mt. Arayat.

- Who wants to go there and have some


thrilling experience?
- Me teacher! We want to go there.

- Of course you can visit there but together


with your parents or any guardian, okay? - Yes teacher.

Subic Free Port in Zambales, Christian Village in


San Fernando, Pampanga, the Saint Paul
Underground River in Palawan, and the Mayon
Volcano in Bicol.

- Have you seen or have you been in Bicol to


see Mt. Mayon?
- Yes teacher.
- How will you describe Mt. Mayon?
- It is a sacred and active volcano in
Bicol and it is a perfect cone shape.
- Yes that’s true. It actually destroyed lots of
structures and life when it erupted.

In addition to these, families and friends also love


to see the Rizal Park, Fort Bonifacio, the National
Museum, big malls, zoos, and public parks in
Manila as well as upland Tagaytay and Baguio
where the air is cooler and the atmosphere is more
relaxed than in Manila.

- Who among you already visited Rizal


Park? - Me teacher
- Can you tell us your experience when you
visited this landmark?
- It is a relaxing place to spend time
with family and friends. I saw lots
of families having their picnic in
Rizal Park, some kids are also
running and playing because the
place is so wide.
- Again, this park is devoted with whom?
- It is devoted to our National Hero
Jose Rizal.
- Great! Now let’s move on toVisayas
- Do you think this beach is located from
other country? - Yes

- What if I tell you that this beautiful beach


is Boracay and can only be seen in the
Philippines. - It is really great teacher. I though it
is located abroad

In Visayas, Lapu-Lapu, the brave hero of Mactan,


Cebu, is known to all as the first Filipino who
fought the Spaniards led by Ferdinand Magellan.
His golden statue stands proud and erect in the
heart of the city to remind the people of his
bravery.

Cebu also has the Sto. Niño Shrine, which is


frequented by devotees. Furthermore, Boracay and
Chocolate Hills also top the tourist attraction list of
the region.

- What can you say about chocolate hills? - They are covered in green grass
that turns brown during the dry
season
- Can you guess how many hills are there?
- 100, 200, 300
- There are 1,260 hills are in there.
Chocolate hills is the most famous tourists
attraction in Bohol.

In Mindanao, Cagayan De Oro City is a very


progressive city. One gets to see not only modern
hotels, big buildings, and shopping malls but also
vast plantations of pineapples, bananas, cacao, and
many others. Davao City is a big city that offers
fun and adventure. It is regarded as the
commercial and economic center of Mindanao.
Camiguin and Siargao islands are likewise two of
its tourist spots.

- This is one of the Siargao Islands.

Right in the Philippines, there are a number of


exciting places that truly serve as important
landmarks to all Filipinos and foreign tourists
alike.

E. GENERALIZATION

Attach the pictures of the landmarks mentioned in


the article. Put them on the map if it is located in
Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao. The leader will shortly
present their work. Groups will have to create a
slogan that advocates the landmarks of the
Philippines and be orally presented by the group at
the end of the presentation.

F. APPLICATION

Instructions: The groups will have to solve a


puzzle to find out where are the travel box is
located for them to create their own travel
brochure.

The groups will have to create their own


travelogue brochure on how to promote the
beauty of the Philippines with only the use of
materials inside the box.
