TORQUE SPECIFICATION FOR HSFG BOLTS

Formula:-
T = K*Fl*d

Where:
T- Tightening Torque
K- Correction factor for torque calculation
(K= 0.18; Approx for plated & non lubricated bolt)
FI- 80% of Proof load.
Proof Load as per IS 1367 (Part 3): 2002 Table 7.
d- Diameter of bolt
Now,
Bolt Size (d): M20
For metric Coarse HSFG Bolts of 10.9 Grade Proof load as per IS 1367 (Part 3):
2002 is 203 kN
So, FI= .80x203= 162.4 kN
At Stress area 245mm² as per IS 1367 (Part 3): 2002.

Therefore,
` T = 0.18*162.4*20
T = 584.64 Nm
Say,
T= 590 Nm
