Your wife is a better project manager. This is what my boss told me.

issues and look what I got.

My boss added when you have guests your wife knows exactly what to cook.

She does not have scope problems.

She procures the right stuff.

Her cooking does not see changes orders or cost and time overruns.

She uses the right people; knows the risk.

She works with professional integrity and uses the best ingredients.

Her cooking does not see any accidents.

The smile on the face of her guests verifies that she closed it off well.

I am always ready to learn new things, even from my wife. But, project management is not easy.

You are accountable for everything. Especially those that go wrong. And believe me, it’s a long list.

Yet, your authority is almost nil.

Consider the temperament part. One second you are pacifying some department. The other minute you
are fighting with another.

You are controlling projects similar to a jumbo jet, yet you can rarely hire or fire someone.

Still, there is a satisfaction associated with project management. I did not get this feeling during my non-
PM days.
