Introduction:
Kaliabor is a Lok Sabha / Parliamentary constituency in of Assam.
There is 10 legislative assembly segments in this constituency.
Golaghat, Dergaon, Bokakhat, Samuguri, Kaliabar, Dhing, Batadrba,
Rupohihat, Sarupathar and Khumtai.
The Kaliabor Lok Sabha Constituency in the state of Assam is
currently held by Gaurav Gogoi of the Indian National Congress
(INC). In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Gogoi beat Moni Madhab
Mahanta of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) by receiving 55.18% of
the votes cast in this constituency.
Kaliabor is one of the 14 constituencies of Assam. In the 2019 Lok
Sabha elections, Kaliabor went to the polls on April 11, 2019, in
Phase 1, It saw 82.09% of its registered electors turning out to vote,
against 80.01% in the previous national elections held in 2014.
Gaurav Gogoi defeated his nearest rival, Moni Madhab Mahanta, by a
margin of 209994 votes. While Gogoi received 55.18 votes, runner-
up Moni Madhab Mahanta polled 40.44 votes.
When the whole India was waving in Modi wave, It was Kaliabar
constituency which could not so much influenced by the wave.
Bhartiya Janata Party and Asom Gano Parishad allainced together,
and fielded AGP candidate Moni Madhab Mahanta as alliance
supported candidate. On the other hand, there was Gaurav Gogoi,
previous Mp from Kaliabar Constituency and son of ex Chief
minister Tarun gogoi. Amit Shah came to campaign for Moni Madhab
Mahanta, But It could not ensure its victory and again for the
continuously seven times, Congress Party got Victory.
