ASSIGNMENT IN SCIENCE

Name: Samantha Nicole p. acub sec: 7- Herschel

a. Describe the following waves.

Tranvese - transverse wave is a moving wave whose oscillations are perpendicular to

the direction of the wave.

Longitudinal - Longitudinal waves are waves in which the displacement of the

medium is in the same direction as, or the opposite direction to, the direction of propagation
of the wave.

Mechanical - mechanical wave is a wave that is an oscillation of matter, and therefore

transfers energy through a medium.

Electromagnetic - Electromagnetic waves are formed when an electric field comes

in contact with a magnetic field. They are also perpendicular to the direction of the EM
wave.

Surface - surface wave is a 90 degree wave that propagates along

the interface between differing media. A common example is gravity waves along the surface
of liquids, such as ocean waves.

b. Draw the electromagnetic wave.

c. Parts of the wave.
