ABSTRACT

The study aimed to determine the factors affecting the

motivational behavior of the students and its influence to their

reading comprehension. Specifically, the study sought to identify

the level of perception of the teachers and pupil respondents as

regards on the factors affecting the motivational behavior of the

students and its influence to their reading comprehension in terms of

Parental Encouragement, Role of the Teacher, Peers Influence, Group

Dynamics, and Sense of Belonging. This study also discusses the level

of the academic performance of grade six pupils base on the three

successive years of PHIL-IRI result.

The study tested the relationship of the status of the

significant relationship on the perception of the two groups of

respondents on the factors affecting the motivational behavior

of the students and its influence to their reading comprehension

in terms of the aforementioned aspects and if there is a

significant difference between seen between.

The researcher utilized descriptive-quantitative approach.

The quantitative probe as the primary approach, as stated is

concerned with the description of data and characteristics about a

population. This study utilized survey questionnaire as an

instrument in data gathering.

The study was conducted in __________________________ Elementary

School located at ______________________.


The respondents of the study were One hundred twenty

elementary school teachers and one hundred-thirty elementary students.

Statistical treatment was utilized to discern the results

of this study. Mean was used to determine the level of

perception of the two group of respondents to the factors

affecting the motivational behavior of the students and its

influence to their reading comprehension. Pearson-r was used to

determine the significant relationship of the significant

difference of the perception of the two groups of respondents on

the factors affecting the motivational behavior of the students

and its influence to their reading comprehension.

Based on the results of the study, it was determined that

among the given factors that affect the motivation of the

student in learning, the sense of belongingness seems to be the

most important. Also, that all the mentioned factors can really

be a contributor that affects the motivational behavior of the

students to their reading comprehension.

Based on the conclusion drawn, the following

conclusions it was recommended that the teachers should ensure

that their students can feel sense of belonging as it’s the

major factor that can motivate them to learn. Also, that during

the annual Parent orientation program of the school, the factors

that affect the motivation of the student to learn should be

covered as it can really affect the characteristics, attitude

and learning habit of the child.
