1. Description
Eltek’s ventilation system (EVS) is a cost effective and power saving
solution for cooling and OPEX saving initiatives for the modernization of
Telecom Shelters, based on the same principles of the Eltek Cooling Box
(ECB).
The EVS has the advantage that a large amount of clean air can be
filtered / exchanged, giving very high cooling performance with low
power consumption while maintaining the environmental
temperature, dust and humidity.
The EVS when used with Eltek’s SmartPack Controller technology
enables a total shelter environmental control including any installed box
/ or split type Air conditioner.
The Eltek Ventilation System is equipped with controller and will have
linear control of the fans where the fan speed will be dependent on the
internal room or shelter temperature.

Optionally the fan speed can be controlled based also on the internal
relative humidity of the shelter, using a function called Humidity
Reduction Function. For more details, see the specific document
that describes the Humidity Reduction Functionality.

Applications
 Telecom BTS 2G,3G,4G (LTE) shelter
o Repeater Station
o Wimax
o Broadband
 GSMR

6. Maintenance
6.1 General

The EVS incorporates one high-quality replaceable Filter(s) to

standards as described with in this Operation, Maintenance and Installation
manual. The filter is classed as consumable(s) and to ensure that the
expected design lifetime of the EVS are met and to be within the warranty
terms of the product, the user of the EVS must adapt and follow a complete
maintenance scheme. This scheme has to be tailored to match the local site
condition and EVS solution. Eltek recommends general EVS maintenance
minimum 3 to 4 times per annum or once per annum if Filter block detector
fitted (optional).

√Note! Once a year is not applicable for filter maintenance (see separate
section below)

It is the customer’s responsibility that all people involved in making the

maintenance scheme or doing site maintenance has the necessary technical
knowhow and follows the recommendation in the manual. Below are a few
basic points for general consideration. Please do not limit your total
evaluation to the below points.

Enclosure:
• Check that no physical damage has been applied to the exterior of
the enclosure
• Use touch-up paint to repair any scratches on painted surfaces of the
enclosure
• Check that the fixing bolts of the EVS are correctly tightened and not
tampered with in any way
• Check for abnormal traces of dust or water inside the EVS

Filter Maintenance when applicable

Implementation of an air filter preventive maintenance program is one of
the most important factors to protect installed equipment, keep operational
cost down and to keep the equipment up running!
• Make sure to adapt the filter change interval to the local conditions,
G4 filter change interval is typically 3-6 months.
• It is recommended to inspect frequently in the first period after
installation in order to understand and adapt to local conditions
• Use only original filters provided by Eltek or in accordance with
technical specification supplied by Eltek.
• Use of non-original filters can void the warranty provided by Eltek.
• Contact your local Eltek company for further details

DD 16:053 PAG 34
Other maintenance:
• Remove any debris, leaves or other items that might block the
incoming or exiting air flow (in/out)
• Check that the fans are running without any abnormal noise

Fan Filter

This chapter describes filter maintenance.

√WARNING: You are operating in a live system. Precaution must be taken

when changing filter in front of the fan.

√Note! It is of great importance that ONLY Eltek original filters are used
when changing the filter, to keep the level of dust and water protection for
the equipment inside the enclosure. See filter for part number and/or
contact your local Eltek company for further details.

Eltek recommends frequently inspection in the first period after installation

in order to understand and adapt to local conditions.
