1. Description
Eltek’s ventilation system (EVS) is a cost effective and power saving
solution for cooling and OPEX saving initiatives for the modernization of
Telecom Shelters, based on the same principles of the Eltek Cooling Box
(ECB).
The EVS has the advantage that a large amount of clean air can be
filtered / exchanged, giving very high cooling performance with low
power consumption while maintaining the environmental
temperature, dust and humidity.
The EVS when used with Eltek’s SmartPack Controller technology
enables a total shelter environmental control including any installed box
/ or split type Air conditioner.
The Eltek Ventilation System is equipped with controller and will have
linear control of the fans where the fan speed will be dependent on the
internal room or shelter temperature.
Optionally the fan speed can be controlled based also on the internal
relative humidity of the shelter, using a function called Humidity
Reduction Function. For more details, see the specific document
that describes the Humidity Reduction Functionality.

4.1 How to Install the Eltek Ventilation System
Follow the steps below when installing the Eltek Ventilation
System (EVS):
Note:
Ensure the minimum height is 1000m
1 above the ground (refer to the figure
shown below for the minimum distance).
The wall thickness should not be more
than 100mm.

1 1. Install PowerSuite
Insert the CD in your PC drive, start the PowerSuite installation and follow & accept
the wizard default steps
2 2. Switch Smartpack1 ON and plug USB cable (Part 202073)
to Smartpack and to any available USB port in the PC
3. Wait for Windows to install USB drivers
Follow & accept the wizard default steps to automatically install the USB drivers;
3 New hardware the wizard runs twice
is ready to use
4. Start PowerSuite and establish connection
Select “Start > All Programs > Eltek > PowerSuite”. On the toolbar, click
4 “Connect” button. On the Connection dialogue box, click the “Connect” button
If PowerSuite fails communicating via the standard COM port, find the COMx
assigned to Smartpack1 (My Computer/Properties/Hardware/Device
Manager) and configure PowerSuite to communicate via this COMx (read
the instructions in the installation CD).
PowerSuite’s newest version is always available on our FTP server. Call your
Eltek’s contact person.

5.2 Smartpack2 Controller Access – Stand-alone PC
You can access the Smartpack2 Master controller directly from a stand-
alone computer, or via a Local Area Network (LAN) if available.
Each controller is shipped with a unique Eltek MAC address stored inside
the controller and marked on the controller’s label, and with the fixed IP
address <192.168.10.20>.
Do following to access the controller:
Smartpack2
6. Connect the computer to the controller;
WebPower
Master Controller
(web-based check its MAC address is displayed
user interface)
Ethernet
cable 7. Find the computer NIC’s IP address
(Standard straight
and subnet mask (network card)
through cable
OR crossover cable)
Tip:
using DOS command IPCONFIG, in a Command Prompt window
e.g. computer’s IP address <169.254.52.132> Subnet mask <255.255.0.0>
RJ-45 socket
8. Change the controller’s IP address
for Ethernet and Network Mask to be the same range as the computer’s
connection
Tip:
Using the EVNU program,
SD card
1. Select the controller,
Handle in open
position
2. Click in the “Configuration” button
3. Change e.g.
Smartpack2 Master from default <192.168.10.20> <0.0.0.0>
controller (open)
to IP address <169.254.52.133> <255.255.0.0>,
4. Click on the “Enable Static IP” button
9. Access the controller’s configuration pages
in your Web browser, e.g. clicking the “Web Interface” button in the EVNU
program
10. Log in with the <admin> account,
11. Change the controller’s Device Name

Double click the I/O unit 1 will bring the user to the EVS Parameter
window. User will be able to view only the following parameter:
1. Indicate the temperature of the indoor temperature probe.
2. Indicate 1 or 2 fan solution (single fan mode is applicable when fan1
checkbox is highlighted; dual fan mode is when the fan1 and fan2 are
highlighted)
3. Indicate the Fan running speed (default setting: 22°C at 0% and
30°C at 96%).

When the indoor temperature reaches 37 Deg Celsius, this will trigger the
set-point of the Air-con to be turn “ON”. If the temperature continues to
rise to 39 Deg Celsius, emergency mode will starts and activates the Fan.
The Hysteresis will determine the cut-off point for the Air-Con and Fan
(Emergency mode only).

For fan mode operation only there will be no option for Turn-on Air-Con set
point or Emergency Set point.
A High Temp Alarm is provided to notify the user when the indoor
temperature rises to an undesired value.

The fan works when the indoor temperature is satisfied with the start-up
condition which is at 23 Deg Celsius. The fan modulates the speed according
to the room temperature until it reaches the maximum set point of 30°C
Deg Celsius which the fan will run at 96% speed.
These parameters will check the indoor temperature against the outdoor
temperature based on the set point of the hysteresis to prevent hot air
being drawn into the shelter or cabin.

6. Maintenance
6.1 General
√Note! Once a year is not applicable for filter maintenance (see separate
section below)
Enclosure:
• Check that no physical damage has been applied to the exterior of
the enclosure
• Use touch-up paint to repair any scratches on painted surfaces of the
enclosure
• Check that the fixing bolts of the EVS are correctly tightened and not
tampered with in any way
• Check for abnormal traces of dust or water inside the EVS
DD 16:053 PAG 34
Other maintenance:
• Remove any debris, leaves or other items that might block the
incoming or exiting air flow (in/out)
• Check that the fans are running without any abnormal noise
Fan Filter
√Note! It is of great importance that ONLY Eltek original filters are used
when changing the filter, to keep the level of dust and water protection for
the equipment inside the enclosure. See filter for part number and/or
contact your local Eltek company for further details.
