Container Dormitory

When we’re doing study abroad, we tend to live in a dorm considering we are away from
home. This happens to me now because I’m studying at UNESA Lidah Wetan, which is a bit far from
my home. My parents then decided to put me into a dorm because of my inability to drive a car or
ride a motorcycle. The very nice and comfy dormitory I’m currently living in right now called Container
Dormitory, and it only takes 10 minutes to get to the campus from the dorm by walking. There are a
lot of things that I love about this dorm, so that’s why I chose to live in there. Three of them are the
room itself, the laundry room, and the cafeteria.

The rooms in Container Dormitory are fit for two persons. There are two beds, two large
wardrobes, and also two desks. What I love the most about the rooms is that they have balconies with
enough space to put our stand-alone towel bars. In my room itself, it is essential for me to have a
towel bar outside because I can’t have my roommate and I’s towels to be wet—the towels have to be
dried after they were used. One more special advantage of living in Container Dormitory is that every
room has an air conditioner. With the material of the building—which is containers, hence the dorm’s
name—the air oftenly gets hot, so that’s why having an air conditioner in the room is necessary.

Living far away from home makes us have to be independent. In this case, I’m talking about
having to wash my clothes all by my own. I won’t have my mother to do it for me. So that’s why I was
so excited about moving in to Container Dormitory because it has a laundry room that placed on the
5th floor of the building which is the rooftop. There are approximately six washing machines in the
laundry room, so the residents of the dorm don’t have to scramble to be able to use it. Like it has been
mentioned earlier, the laundry room is placed on the rooftop. Being placed there, it gives me and the
other residents an advantage of being able to dry our clothes on the rooftop with the full access of
the sun. By doing that, the clothes are much faster to get dried.

The big and comfy cafeteria is another charm of this dorm. Unlike the other rooms, this
cafeteria is opened for public. I can say that this last part of the things I love about Container Dormitory
is also loved by the outsiders. They love to come to the cafeteria to do their homeworks, or maybe
just hang out with their friends who are the residents here. The supervisor also provides the cafeteria
with a large fridge filled with soft drinks, so whenever anybody wants to drink something, they can
buy it there. The place is pretty big and comfortable with approximately three or more air
conditioners, so everybody likes to stay there for a very long time.

Living in Container Dormitory is so comfortable so far. Since I’m still afraid to try to ride a
motorcycle, I have a plan to stay here as long as possible. With those advantages I get here, there’s no
need to worry that I would feel homesick one day. And also, considering I live with a roommate, my
daily life won’t be so boring. Container Dormitory is like my second home so far.
