RATIONALE

The Campus Student

Government, College Student
Governments, and various student
organizations at BPSU Main Campus
are key drivers of change and
leadership in the student body. Since
the approval of free higher education.
Students of state universities and
colleges are directed to conduct
community projects and other social
change programs to assist the
government in its objective to provide
wider services to people.
Students are also mandated to
provide community projects in lieu of
CHED Memorandum 9 series of 2013.
While some of the student
organizations are able to conduct
community projects off campus, not
all student organizations have the
logistics to conduct off campus
community projects because of the
challenges of the CMO 63 series of
2017. To assist these student
organizations, the CSG Main Campus
has taken the lead to involve the
student organizations for activities

that are service-oriented in nature,
thus community service in nature, but
will be conducted inside the campus premises. Student organizations that will be participating in
OPLAN BAYANIHAN 2019 are Figure 1 Copy of the Front page of the Invitation
required to partner with organizations
outside the campus (e.g. NGOs, NGAs, volunteer groups, private individuals, etc) as they

participate in the Bayanihan activity. This way, students are taught to organize service-oriented
programs while forging partnerships with off campus organizations.
The OPLAN BAYANIHAN 2019 is a good way to promote concern for the university and
the students’ campus community. It is important that BPSU shall promote the value of service to
others through service to the university.

II. OBJECTIVES

OPLAN BAYANIHAN 2019 is set to accomplish the following objectives:

1. Student organizations that will be participating in OPLAN BAYANIHAN 2019 are

required to partner with organizations outside the campus (e.g. NGOs, NGAs,
volunteer groups, private individuals, etc) as they participate in the Bayanihan
activity, thus it is our objective to promote collaborative partnerships with campus
based organizations and community-based organizations.
2. To train students to organize service-oriented programs while forging partnerships
with off campus organizations.

CONCLUSION

The Leaders Assembly and Gawad Batang Bayani 2019 spearheaded by the Campus Student
Government is a successful event as it was attended by almost 400 students from BPSU Main
Campus. The recognition of student leaders, student artists, student athletes, student writers in a
separate venue provide a more empowering environment to the university as it gives them the
sense of pride. The event is successful in recognizing the contribution of non-academic activities
in campus, thus, promoting a more expansive culture of extra-curricular involvement in the
campus. The Gawad Batang Bayani encourages excellence for student leaders to become better
students not just in academics but also in extracurricular activities that help in the total
development of a batang bayani that the university envisions for its students.
