Monitoring and Evaluation

How do you monitor or evaluate the effectiveness of your program?

Based on the gathered data, it is very alarming that 3 out 4 student-athletes are suffering from
these kinds of anxieties. If this will continue, these individuals might be giving up their dream as an athlete
or losing their focus on studies and experiencing depression that affects their behaviour. You can’t stop
them from experiencing it but can lessen their negative thoughts by giving them program that suits and
help them in coping it.

Sports organizations should see their athletes as a person from a life-span perspective and vigilant
in reducing threats to mental health especially anxieties during their careers. Researchers want to pay
more attention on how anxieties affect student-athletes’ career and how career may affect their mental
health.

Sport organization must also consider that mental health as a key of student-athletes’ effectiveness
and develop their selves according to their environment. Sometimes, the main reason of having anxieties
were their teammates and coaches or classmates and teachers that may affects his focus in sports and
academics by hearing negative feedbacks.

Student-athletes need guidance for them to maintain their focus on their goals as an athlete and
student. Researches can monitor students-athletes by a conference at least once a month; they will
answer the evaluation honestly and to see the results to provide them a solution. Having talks with
professionals who have a primary focus on athletes’ the mental health. Observing them in their trainings,
ask for a help from their coach to monitor their behaviour and ask someone who is close to him if they are
doing better or getting worse.
