U factor calculation for Exposed Walls:

1/U = [1/4+ 0.5/5 + 9.055/5 + 2.362/1.65 + 5.906/2.5 + 0.5/5 + 1/1.65]

U = 0.14

Where following is considered,

1” layer of Moving Air with thermal conductivity, k = 4

0.5” layer of Cement Plaster with thermal conductivity, k = 5

9.055” layer of (230 mm) Brick with thermal conductivity, k = 5

2.362” layer of (60 mm) Air Gap with thermal conductivity, k = 1.65

5.906” layer of (150 mm) AAC with thermal conductivity, k = 2.5

1” layer of Still Air with thermal conductivity, k = 1.65

The thermal conductivity ‘k’ for AAC has been considered from the following reference.

1” layer of Still Air with thermal conductivity, k = 1.65

0.5” layer of Cement Plaster with thermal conductivity, k = 5

7.87” layer of (200 mm) AAC with thermal conductivity, k = 2.5

0.5” layer of Cement Plaster with thermal conductivity, k = 5

1” layer of Still Air with thermal conductivity, k = 1.65

U factor calculation for Roof:

1/U = (1/1.65+ 6.3/5+ 1.57/7.5+ 2.95/0.36+ 1.69/7.5+ 0.59/0.29+ 0.47/5+ 1.57/0.38+ 1/4)

U = 0.06

1” layer of Still Air with thermal conductivity, k = 1.65

6.3” (160 mm) layer of Cement Plaster with thermal conductivity, k = 5

1.57” (40 mm) layer of PCC with thermal conductivity, k = 7.5

2.95” (75 mm) layer of Insulation with thermal conductivity, k = 0.36

1.69” (43 mm) layer of PCC with thermal conductivity, k = 7.5

0.59” (15 mm) layer of Plastic foamed water proofing with thermal conductivity, k = 0.29
