I. OBJECTIVES
The main goal will be to reach effective oral and written communication. The four-macro Language skills
will be developed throughout the learning process. We want our students to become competent
speakers who can manage the three main elements: knowledge, skills, and human values.
II. METHODOLOGY
The Communicative Approach will be applied in class taking into consideration the students’ needs and
interests. The learned contents will be practiced into real life situations. The Kolb cycle, the PPP and
Active techniques + ARC (Authentic, Restrictive, Clarification) will be also used.
III. BIBLIOGRAPHY
The Big Picture Textbook, the Workbook, the Graded Reader, the corresponding Activity Book, some
Mock tests, photocopies, and the following web links will be used during this term:

A permanent assessment will be carried out during all classes throughout the semester. A Unit test will
be applied at the end of each unit OR every two units (super-intensive courses). Oral and written exams
will be also administered.
V. STUDENTS’ RULES
● Students must attend classes on time. If a student arrives more than 10 minutes late, one-hour of
absence will be registered.
● Students must turn off their cell phones the moment they come into the classroom.
● Eating is not allowed in class.
● Courtesy among the members of the class will be strictly observed.
● Every student must be responsible for his / her own learning.
● If a student is absent, it is his/her responsibility to do all the assigned homework. No excuses are
allowed.
● If a student is absent for a test, he/she will have the opportunity to take the test later but it will be graded
out of 16 points.
● Students are not allowed to have anything with them but a pen when being written evaluated.
● Teachers must evaluate the following things: homework, oral and written lessons, portfolio, oral and written
summaries, reading activity book, lab practice, and so forth.
● Teachers have to apply a permanent assessment and register only three average grades during the term
according to the Department’s schedule.
● The oral and written evaluation is taken at the end of each level and will be evaluated by two teachers.
● At the beginning of the semester, the teacher may assess the student’s knowledge with a Diagnostic Test.
● When a student has taken neither a quiz nor an exam, he/she will have 48 hours to present a written request
with the examination fee and the corresponding supporting document; first to her/his teacher who will check
that the information is correct, then to the On-Site Sufficiency Program Director to have the legal
authorization.
● The teacher always has to inform the students about their attendance, academic progress, and grades.
● Students have the following number of permissible hours of absences during the semester:
✓ Teachers will use the platform exercises during the lab hours and students will use such activities as a
self-supportive learning practice at home.
✓ The use of the platform in class is mandatory; therefore, it is a must that both teachers and students
use it. The Director will be in charge of supervising its usage.
✓ Teachers have to get in contact with students who are not attending to their classes to let them know
that they have to cancel their enrollments no longer than 30 days after the semester has started.
