LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 10

Learning Competency: Use pronouns effectively (EN10G-IIIb-31).

I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, 90% of the grade 10 students are expected to:
1. Define Demonstrative and Indefinite pronouns;
2. Create sentences using demonstrative and definitive pronouns; and
3. Manifest active participation by using appropriate pronouns in both written and oral
communication.

A. Preliminaries

B. Activity

Motivational Activity

Students will be divided into three to four groups. In each group an envelope will be provided. Inside
the envelope are words that they have to put together to create sentences.

Sample:

 Those /look /like/ riper / than / the apples / on / my tree.


 Depend / on /others /and / you always / repent.
 A few / of / the / justices / voiced / their / opposition.
 These / are nice / shoes, /but / they / look /uncomfortable.

C. Analysis

1. What have you observed from the activity?

3. What are the pronouns found in the sentences?

4. How are these pronouns functioning?

5. Why is the use of these pronouns necessary in the English grammar?

D. Abstraction

DEMONSTRATIVE Pronoun points out a noun. The demonstrative pronouns are that, these, this
and those.
A demonstrative pronoun may look like a demonstrative adjective, but it is used differently in a
sentence: it acts as a pronoun, taking the place of a noun.

Examples:
1. That is a good idea.
2. These are hilarious cartoons.
3. ______ is the day that we consider ourselves adults.

4. Can I have look at _____ trousers

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DP AND DA

• This is our classroom.


• This classroom is ours.

• Those were their costumes in the contest.


• Those costumes were theirs.

INDEFINITE Pronoun refers to an indefinite, or general, person, or thing. Indefinite pronouns include
all, any both, each, everyone, few, many, neither, none, nothing, several, some and somebody.
An indefinite pronoun may look like an indefinite adjective, but it is used differently in a
sentence: it acts as a pronoun, taking the place of a noun
