Heneral Luna
Heneral Luna
(Reaction Paper)
The movie was all about the life and death of General Antonio Luna or Heneral
Luna, as the movie title itself. I’m not a fan of Filipino movies at all, although I’d love to
watch movies especially Hollywood movies. This was the first time that I watched an
historical and heroic movie about our Filipino heroes, but it wasn’t the first time that I
watch a Filipino movie. At first, I thought that I wouldn’t like the movie because I’m not a
fan of the movie (Filipino) just I said earlier. But I was wrong, because when the movie
goes I think of it as an interesting movie to watch because of the story (is good) and even
the actors who portrayed was so natural that’s why I finish it til’ the end. And personally I
really enjoyed the whole movie, I even get attached to the story, like I become emotionally
affected when the main character dies. I had this hate feeling to those bastards, to those
The movie was also an eye opener for all of us, to become aware of the reality that
we are experiencing right now. Especially those in the highest position (if you know what
I mean). The theme of the movie is not new to us because the story was based on the
true stories that really happens in the past. The movie also introduces some of the familiar
names that we know, like Gregorio Del Pilar, Manuel Quezon, Apolinario Mabini and
Emilio Aguinaldo. Speaking of Aguinaldo, after I watched the movie my view in him has
changed because I believe that he was one of those killers maybe the mastermind of the
Heneral and I don’t think that he (Aguinaldo) is qualified for that hero title. Well, it’s just
about the General and how he manages all of his troops and those battles he
accomplished. This also shows that in our present day, youth (I don’t think of the youth
nowadays) can be also a hero that can fight for the country just like Joven who continues
his works even the General is gone. And remember those lines that Luna said. “May
malaki tayong kalaban sa mga Amerikano - ang ating sarili”, this quote is true really true.
The real enemy of the Filipinos are their fellow Filipinos because there is no unity amongst
us, how can we expect from our country to become successful if there is no unity within
It is such a pity that betrayal and corruption are evident before and even nowadays.
It is hard to think of the country especially when your own interests have not been granted
yet. Some might choose their family and own interests over the good of the country, which
is true. While some might give their all for their beloved nation. Just like Heneral Antonio
Luna. He is a certified true hero that he even risked his life for the sake of the country.
Heneral Luna is a film that every Filipino should watch as it can help us understand the
ongoing problems that we have now, make a solution and plan for a better future.
