WHAT IS VAK?

VAK is a learning system, that aims to find out the learning pattern an individual uses. The very
first evaluation of VAK is to find out if a student learns better by hearing, seeing or feeling (often
identified as processing). Studies suggest that every persons learning style is either or a
combination of auditory, visual or kinesthetic in terms of the way he/she learns best.
Having said that, I would like to make it clear that no particular style is better than the
others. It’s all about what works best on you as an individual.
VAK learning style suggests that, most people can be divided into 3 preferred styles of learning.
1. VISUAL
2. AUDITORY
3. KINESTHETIC
VAK HIGHLIGHTS

1. Helps you understand what learning style works better for you.
2. Simple way to explain and understand your own learning style.
3. Its principle and benefits extend to all types of learning and development, including
workplace and education sector.
4. Helps you form a result oriented strategy based on your learning style.
VISUAL LEARNING STYLE

• This type of learning style involves the use of seen or observed things including pictures,
diagrams, displays, demonstrations, videos etc.
• Person with the Visual style of learning has a preference for seen or observed things.
• Someone with a Visual style of learning will be able to do a task better after reading the
instructions, or watching someone else do it. (for ex: those who asks for a live
demonstration of something you’ve had asked them to do)
AUDITORY LEARNING STYLE

• As the name suggest, this type of learning style involves the transfer of information through
listening: to the spoken word, sound, noise; of self or others.
• They have a preference of taking spoken/auditory instruction.
• Person with an Auditory style of learning has an ability to remember what they hear,
irrespective of the time gap but should be clearly said.
• They interpret the meanings of speech through listening to the tone of voice, pitch and
speed. For ex, you could identify if someone is upset or angry through the tone of his voice.
KINESTHETIC LEARNING STYLE

• A Kinesthetic style of learning involves physical experience- touching, feeling, doing.

• A person with this type of learning style prefers to get practical hands on experience.
• They learn as they go, practically do it.
• These people can be easily seen actively exploring the world around them.
WHY VAK?

As stated and described in previous slides, we all know what exactly VAK is all about. The main
reason for why I find VAK to be for great importance is because its ability to help an individual
identify his learning style which ultimately leads to a journey of self discovery and empowering
ourselves. Since you know what suits you the best, it would then be easier for you to go and
improve and evolve as the best version of yourself.
Imagine your marks soaring high with almost equal efforts in learning the same syllabus,
understanding the same class or concept or the topic. How? Simply because now you know
where to hit.You know what your efforts should be on.There’s actually no point investing time
and energy in something that doesn’t show results.
MAJOR BENEFITS TO A STUDENT

• Time saver: When we put efforts on the right thing, it consumes less of our time.
• More marks with equal efforts: Just because this will channelize the energy and efforts on
the right thing, i.e. the most preferred learning style.
• Increased learning ability: Better understanding of a concept, topic and syllabus will
automatically help you enhance your ability to learn.
• Reduced level of stress: Studies suggests that a VAK has helped students and professionals
reduce their stress level, as this understands their learning pattern causing less or no stress.
• Easy adaptability: Since you’re already doing it unconsciously, after VAK analysis; you do it in
a conscious state of mind and therefore it becomes easy to adapt.
• Many more…
