Santa’s Helpers

I volunteered at Due West Elementary to help children make their designated crafts.

Helping children with crafts is something I don’t usually participate in, because their parents

either don’t think their child needs help or they child doesn’t want any. In the event I was at, the

beaded ornaments, the children could design either a snowman or Christmas tree ornament. The

task was to help the kids quickly do their project and move onto the next station. This was

difficult because most children wanted a Christmas tree, which required stuffing green paper into

a translucent ornament. Most of the children who were attending were 8-9 years old, and moved

at a slower pace. I helped the kids put the paper into the ornament while trying not to upset the

child or disrupt their decorating. These tasks helped my patience grow and I hope to do more in

my future.
