P2141 ­ Air Mixer Control: Short Circuit to Earth (PSA)
P2141 ­ Inlet Throttle Valve Control Circuit Open / Low (Suzuki)
P2141 ­ Exhaust Gas Recirculation Throttle Ctrl Circ Low (Ford)
P2141 ­ EGR Motor Control Circuit Low

SOLUTION:
This fault code refers to EGR / throttle valve, and not the actual EGR valve.

The throttle valve, located just before the intake manifold, has various names according to the context
in which they are mentioned.

EGR flap, Butterfly valve, inlet air metering unit and FAP flap.

Typical faults of this device are:

­  Crack in the joints , which cause oil spills or pressure lack in the intake system.
­  The throttle valves may become loose, and open/close randomly.
­  Electrical faults, in either the throttle control or the throttle feedback.

The throttle control is either electrically or vacuum activated.

The throttle function is:
b To control the intake pressure so it is possible to control the air from the EGR valve
b To regulate the intake air temperature at particulate filter regeneration. This is done to increase the
temperature of the engine
b To ease the shut­off when stopping the engine. This is done by completely closing the throttle valve

Various kinds of throttle valves have been made, according to engine type and model year.

A double inlet air metering throttle valve is available. This throttle valve has the 3 above­mentioned
functions.

SOLUTION CONTINUED:
A version with only one throttle valve is also available. This throttle valve does not contain the
function of controling the intake temperature.
