The Insitu Aerosonde Laima

Amazing airplane

BY THOMAS DIAMANTOPOULOS
WHAT IT DOES/MAKERS
In 1998, the Laima was the first plane that crossed the Atlantic without a pilot! It
used a pre- programmed fight path. Cool!

Nowadays, they look at stuff in the ocean too small for satellites. It used to be
made by Insitu, but now it is made by Aerosonde Ltd and is called AAI
Aerosonde. It is also used for surveillance and reconnaissance.
