We are going to work with each other to build a go kart mostly from scratch.

We want to weld
the frame, source the parts etc. We want to do this project because we feel it will be a fun, insightful,
and really challenging project to complete. We hope that we will acquire some new skills from working
on this project.

Both of us feel that we enjoy building things and working on challenging projects such as this.
Working on this project will give us some insight into potentially entering the engineering or trades field,
and schools pertaining to those. Based on what we do we can get a peek of whether we like it or not.

To do this project we will need to weld the frame together, rig the engine to the axle, construct
a steering mechanism, and many other specifics. We plan to begin construction come new year and
work frequently from there. Until that point it will mostly be sourcing materials and planning design.

In the end we are looking to create a go cart that seats at least one person, has a steering
system, an engine, four wheels, and most importantly, is able to be driven under its own power. This
project is going to be challenging for us because this is out of the scope of anything we’ve ever done
before. We’ve never working with cars or refurbishing engines, building steering systems, or welding
frames. These are all things that will take a while to learn and will be plenty of work. Overall, we are just
trying to answer the question: Will we be able to make a go-kart that works?
