LESSON PLAN:6 LESSON: Food chains

Teacher: Subject: Science

Grade: 2 Unit:2 Date: 30/10/2019

SKILLS AND UNDERSTANDING

Students will be able to know that animals are part of a food chain.

Link to prior learning: Students will need to be familiar with the animal’s habitat, and what the need to
live.

solving, (2) Communication and collaboration, (3) Initiative and self-direction, (4) productivity and
accountability.
Key vocabulary: Habitat, Food, Chain, Sun, Producer, Consumer, Predator, Prey, Energy, Ocean, Forest,
desert.

UNIT: 2 LESSON: 6

Resources & Time: Starter (15 minutes)

- PPT. In the begging of lesson teacher will review what they learn last class,
- Ribbons. Let’s review what we know. Teacher will ask following quotations.
- Chairs.  What is a habitat?
- Cards picture.  Do all animals live in the same habitat?
 Do you know Some habitat? Water, forest, desert.
 Can we but camel in the forest? Why not?
Then start our lesson, today we will look at food chains,

What do animals need to survive? food


Why do animals need other animals? To be alive.
Techer will ask these questions to see what they know about a food chain.
Tr will introduce the PPT that’s talk about food chains.
From the PPT students will know which animals the Predator and Prey and new
vocabulary.

Tr will explain 3 different food chains.


After that, teacher will do a competition between 2 groups of 2 students.
Each 2 students will take 2 chairs and separate them and put ribbon between the 2
chairs.
Each group will have different pictures of a different food chains.
Ss will start to organize the food chain on the ribbon.

Resources & Time Main activities (20 minutes)

Center 1: high In this group, students will have cards picture and ribbon. They will do a food chain
series by tie the ribbon with the cards picture.

Centre 2: middle In this group, students will use animals’ pictures and straws, they will create their a
- Straw. food chain with these pictures. Students will do a food chain by using the pictures
- Pictures. and glue.
- Glue.

Center3: Low In this group, students will make food chain puzzle. Teacher will give them simple
- Cards picture. food chain with pictures of animals. This group will solve a simple food chain puzzle
with less animals.

Resources Plenary (5 minutes)


- Worksheets. Each student will have an exit ticket.
