Experiment on Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK) Modulation and Demodulation

Objective: To design a ASK modulator using Pseudo-Random Bit Sequence (PRBS) generator and AM modulator and
demodulate the generated ASK modulated signal using PLL.

Hardware Required:
PRBS Generator (Previously Designed), AM Modulator using MC1496, Diode (Ge), Resistors, Capacitors, CRO, Two
function generators, breadboard and connecting wires.

Observation in the circuit

1. Trace the waveforms at the points marked in circle of Fig. 1 neatly.

2. What will be the effect in the demodulator if fc is varied slightly within the mentioned span at the modulator?
3. Try to explain the purpose of using comparator at the output stage.
4. Try to change the modulation index slightly and see the effect on the circuit.
