Pinas Forward: Narrative Report

Last November 8, 2019 a seminar was held at Dean Geronimo Lavilla hall that
started past 1:00 in the afternoon and ends at 5:00. It was regulated by the organization
Pinas Forward that was announced has a partnership with Globe Telecomm and
Barangay Kalinga. It was also attended by the officers of different department of BUTC.
The seminar aims to awaken the spirit of leadership and patriotism. It was started by a
prayer followed by the singing of Philippine National anthem.

Alex Drones, the first discussant, he discussed the concept of leadership and the
importance of it. In the middle his discussion he presented and asked the audience
about the difference between “Leader and Pinuno”. Meanwhile, a student said that a
leader is somewhat who leads the way while pinuno is the one who received service from
his people. On the other hand, a student from Education Department says about his
perception on the question, he said that “Pinuno is just a direct translation of leader in
Filipino.” After that the speaker gives its meaning but on the case of leader, he stated the
term in managerial way. Simply, his reference is outdated. The speaker might refer to
the difference of manager and leader. Then the first topic was ended.

As the second session started and discussed by Ms. Mary Grace Trifles more on
Digital Bayanihan. She started it with flourishing introduction about her topic. Then on,
it took very long to start the concept because of some pointless talks about to the culture
of youths as of today towards social media. Sad to say, no media presentation was
shown, where the vital concepts of the topic must be presented for the audience to
understand how does digital bayanihan work. The session continues, she just shared her
experience about the bayanihan, she highlighted her experiences in Sorsogon that just
happen this year. Then the second topic was ended.

The third speaker Mr. Alex Diones from Bicol University Tabaco Campus, he
motivated the audience about the constant change and what we can do for common
good. There’s a game for the audience that they are told to upload a photo on the
comment section of the organization’s page. Then, there is no winner at all such
students wont dare to upload their photos on the said page.

The event ended with a constant monotonical atmosphere because of uncleared

topics they’ve just discussed. It seems that the speakers are not ready and unprepared to
speak but they also try to do their best to spread their knowledge. Then according to
them the speakers wasn't around that’s why it happens, and they don’t want to postpone
it. They said that the show must go on. They have a fascinating objective, but they didn’t
deliver the topics as we expected to them.
