1. Purpose:
1.1 To define the requirements for the hazard assessment, selection, use, training, replacement,
maintenance, storage of personal protective equipment (PPE) at Petro Rabigh facilities.
1.2 To define the responsibilities for procuring, issuing and distributing of PPE at Petro Rabigh facilities.
2. Scope:
This General Instruction is applicable to all work locations involving process activities, maintenance and
also during leaks & spills. This procedure is not applicable for the radiation safety PPEs as it is separately
covered under EHD-OH procedure.
3. Acronyms / Definitions:
3.1 Air-Purifying Respirator: A respirator with an air-purifying filter, cartridge, or canister that removes
specific air contaminants by passing ambient air through the air-purifying element.
3.2 Air Line Respirator: An atmosphere-supplying respirator for which the source of breathing air is not
designed to be carried by the user.
3.3 Atmosphere-Supplying Respirator: A respirator that supplies the respirator user with breathing air
from a source independent of the ambient atmosphere. It includes supplied-air respirators (SARs)
and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) units.
3.4 Cartridge or Canister: A container with a filter, sorbent, or catalyst, or combination of these items,
which removes specific contaminants from the air passed through the container.
3.5 Contractor: An independent contracting company that has been awarded a contract by Petro
Rabigh
3.6 Dust Mask: A flexible pad held over the nose and mouth by elastic or rubber straps to protect
against dusts encountered during construction or cleaning activities, such as dusts from drywall,
concrete etc.
3.7 Ear plug: A device that is meant to be inserted in the ear canal to protect the wearer's hearing
from loud noises.
3.8 Ear muff: Earmuffs are objects designed to cover a person's ears for protection. They consist of a
thermoplastic that fits over the top of the head, and a pad at each end, to cover the external ears.
3.9 Face Shield: Secondary eye and face protectors utilized in conjunction with primary protectors,
i.e., safety glass, to protect the wearer’s face and eyes from flying objects or chemical hazards.
3.10 Full body Harness: Straps which may be secured about the employee in a manner that will
distribute the fall arrest forces over at least the thighs, pelvis, waist, chest and shoulders with
means for attaching it to other components of a personal fall arrest system
3.11 Gloves: Hand protection designed to protect the hands and forearms from various hazards. The
specific hazard anticipated will determine which glove to utilize.
3.12 Goggles: Protective device worn over safety glasses and designed to fit snugly around the wearer’s
eyes to protect against certain hazards, i.e., chemical splashes.
3.13 Hard Hat or Safety Helmet: Hard hats or Helmets are rigid headgear of varying materials designed
to protect the wearer’s head from falling objects, other impact hazards or electrical hazards.
3.14 Hazard Assessment: A survey of work site hazards to determine proper selection of personal
protective equipment.
3.15 Material Safety Datasheet (MSDS): A Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) is a document that
contains information on the potential health effects of exposure to chemicals, or other potentially
dangerous substances, and on safe working procedures users should adhere to when handling

chemical products.
3.16 Personal Protective Equipment: Device worn by the person to protect against hazard in the
environment. These devices include but are not limited to the following: safety helmet, safety
glass, face shield, Safety gloves and Safety shoes etc.
3.17 Proponent: Petro Rabigh Organization which is the owner of the facilities or other organization
which is in charge of the areas where projects are executed.
3.18 Safety Boots: Protective footwear, as of leather or rubber, covering the foot and part of the leg.
Safety boots shall be worn where the employee’s feet get exposed to acid/alkali hazards.
3.19 Safety Glasses: A protective eyewear, also known as spectacles, worn to shield the wearer’s eyes
from a variety of hazards.
3.20 Safety Shoes: Protective footwear designed to protect the foot from external forces.
3.21 Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA): An atmosphere-supplying respirator for which the
breathing air source is designed to be carried by the user.
3.22 Welding Helmet or Welding Shield: A protective shield for the eyes and face of the wearer to guard
against optical radiation and impact. Welding helmets or Welding shields are secondary protection
and shall be used only in conjunction with primary protectors determined by the factors of
electrode size, arc current, or plate thickness.
4. Responsibilities:
4.1. Department Manager

4.1.1. Shall oversee the implementation of all requirements of this General Instruction in his
Department.
4.1.2. Shall ensure that a PPE hazard assessment is performed as required by this Instruction.
4.1.3. Shall enforce the use of PPE by all as department employees required for the task they
are performing including the routine inspections of equipment in hazardous environment.
4.1.4. Shall ensure that all department employees are properly trained to wear the PPE
required for a particular task.
4.1.5. Shall include costs for PPE in the department budget.
4.1.6. Shall ensure availability of required type of PPEs.
4.2. Section Head

4.2.1. Shall oversee the implementation of all requirements of this General Instruction in his
Section.
4.2.2. Shall ensure that a PPE hazard assessment has been performed as required by this
Instruction.
4.2.3. Shall review and approve the workplace hazard assessment performed with a written
“Hazard Assessment Form”.
4.2.4. Shall enforce the use of PPE by all as section employees required for the task they are
performing including the routine inspections of equipment in hazardous environment.
4.2.5. Shall ensure that all section employees are properly trained to wear the PPE required for
a particular task.
4.2.6. Shall ensure that initial and periodic inventory of PPE is accomplished and adequate
stock is maintained.

4.3. Supervisor

4.3.1. Shall be responsible for the issuing, training, storage and maintenance of PPE.
4.3.2. Shall identify and provide the training required for the safe use of PPE. He shall request
Safety Department / Occupational Health & Industrial Hygiene Section for the assistance,
if required.
4.3.3. Shall carryout PPE hazard assessment as required by this General Instruction.
4.3.4. Shall enforce that all employees wear the required PPE for the task they are performing.
4.3.5. Shall ensure that required PPEs are specified on the Work Permit before starting work in
his area.
4.3.6. Shall review the complaint received from the employees about quality of PPE and take
appropriate action.
4.3.7. Shall maintain record of the PPE which includes individual issuance, replacement, stock,
etc.
4.3.8. Shall procure the required PPEs as the established procurement procedure.
4.4. Employees

4.4.1. Shall wear required PPE for the task they are performing.
4.4.2. Shall participate in the PPE hazard assessment as required by this Instruction.
4.4.3. Shall inspect the PPE before performing the job.
4.4.4. Shall notify the Supervisor when PPE are lost, defective, damaged or in need of
replacement.
4.5. Contractor Supervisor

4.5.1. Shall ensure the required PPE are provided to the workers.
4.5.2. Shall ensure workers wear the required PPE before performing the job in Petro Rabigh
facilities.
4.6. Environment and Health Department

4.6.1. Shallprovideguidanceandinformationontoxicityandhealtheffectsofchemicals involved.


4.6.2. Shall provide technical safety assistance to the department / section as and when
required.
4.6.3. Shall assist in conducting PPE hazard assessment, whenever requested by the
Proponent Department / Section.
4.7. Safety Department

4.7.1. Shall technically review and prepare PPE specifications and request the Material
Management Department for the creation of material code numbers.
4.7.2. Shall upload the PPE specifications list in the Safety Page of PR portal.
4.7.3. Shall communicate with Material Management Department and Proponent
Departments, if there are changes in the PPE specifications.
4.7.4. Shall provide technical safety assistance to the department/section as and when
required.

4.7.5. Shall conduct random compliance inspection of PPE in the Petro Rabigh facilities.
4.7.6. Shall assist in conducting PPE hazard assessment, if required by the Proponent
Department/Section.
4.7.7. Shall monitor the implementation of this Instruction and make necessary updates.
4.8. Material Procurement Department (MPD)

4.8.1. Shall develop and administer a purchase agreement for supply of PPE from the Petro
Rabigh approved Vendor.
4.8.2. Shall manage the procurement activities of PPE through established procedure.
4.8.3. Shall provide technical specifications and samples to the Safety Department for technical
assessment when received from the approved Vendor.
4.8.4. Shall resolve any complaint received from the Proponent Department on the PPE.
4.8.5. Shall procure the PPE as per the approved specifications.

4.9. Material Management Department (MMD)


4.9.1. Shall prepare Material code numbers (SAP numbers) for the PPE upon request from
Safety Department.

4.9.2. Shall communicate Safety Department for the random inspection of received PPE items
from the Vendor.
4.9.3. Shall maintain the PPE stock (for stock items) in the Petro Rabigh warehouse.
4.10. Fire Protection Department

4.10.1. Shall provide SCBA use training to employees.


4.10.2. Shall maintain a record of certified SCBA trained personnel.
4.10.3. Shall conduct refresher training at regular intervals as outlined in the GI for Work Permit
System.
4.10.4. Shall carry out the inspection and maintenance of SCBA installed in the areas.
5. Personal Protective Equipment Requirements
5.1. General Requirements
5.1.1. The wearing of PPE in Petro Rabigh operating areas is mandatory. The minimum PPE
such as Safety Helmet, Safety shoes/boots, flame resistant coverall, eye protection shall
be worn by the employees in operating areas. In fitting PPE, careful consideration must
be given to comfort and fit. Care should be taken to ensure that the right size of the PPE
is selected.
5.1.2. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) shall be used when engineering and /or
administrative controls cannot be adopted to control the hazards of a process or the
environment that may cause injury or impairment to employees. PPE shall be considered
as the last line of defense after other form of hazard methods. .
5.1.3. The Work Permit for any task must specify the PPE requirements that are not part of the
minimum standard for the operational area and should re-emphasize the minimum
standards where they might be overlooked.

5.1.4. The Protective Equipment provided to employees are categorized in Individual protective
equipment and common protective equipment.
5.1.5. The Individual protective equipment such as goggles, safety glass, safety helmet, ear
plug, ear muff, gloves are issued to the individuals and are managed by the individuals.
5.1.6. The common protective equipment such as SCBA set, airline mask, full body harness
etc. are managed by each Section.
5.1.7. All personal protective equipment shall be provided by the Proponent Department to their
employees free of charge.
5.1.8. An employee shall receive one pair of protective footwear per year. If the employee
needs medical protective footwear, then it shall be provided by the Proponent
Department with no charge from the employee.
5.1.9. An employee shall notify the Supervisor when PPE are lost, defective, damaged or in
need of replacement.
5.1.10. PPE shall be kept in clean and properly maintained.
5.1.11. PPE that has been worn to the point that it has reached the end of its useful life, or PPE
that is defective or damaged, shall be immediately removed from service and disposed of
properly. The employee shall be provided with a replacement PPE free of charge.
5.1.12. The specification of all identified PPE is uploaded in the Safety Page of PR portal for
access by all employees.
5.2. Hazard Assessment
5.2.1. The Department/Section shall perform a hazard assessment of the workplace to
determine if hazards are present, or likely to be present, which necessitate the use of
PPE.
Note:
a) The hazard assessment is mandatory for operating departments (Such as MFT
Departments, C&BSS, SCM, QC, Maintenance Department etc.). Basic PPE like
Safety Helmet, Safety shoes, hand gloves, safety glass/safety goggles are
mandatory while entering the restricted area.
b) Department Manager / Section Head may request representative from Safety
Department, Occupational Health, apart from Department Safety Advisor to
participate in the Hazard Assessment.
5.2.2. In order to assess the need for PPE the following steps should be taken:
5.2.2.1 Review injury/incident data to help identify problem areas.
5.2.2.2 Review MSDS of the chemicals to select the PPE.
5.2.2.3 Conduct a walk-through survey of the areas in question. The purpose of the
survey is to identify sources of hazards to workers (ATTACHMENT-1, “Hazard
Assessment Form”). Consideration should be given to the basic hazard
categories:
 Impact
 Penetration
 Compression (roll-over)
 Chemical

 Exposure to heat or cold weather environment


 Harmful dust
 Light (optical) radiation
 Electrical
5.2.2.4 During the walk-through survey, the person performing the assessment shall
observe.
5.2.2.4.1 Sources of high temperatures that could result in burns, eye injury,
etc.
5.2.2.4.2 Sources of motion; i.e., machinery or process where any movement
of tools, machine elements or particles could exist, or movement
of personnel that could result in collision with stationary objects.
5.2.2.4.3 Types of chemical exposures.
5.2.2.4.4 Sources of harmful dust.
5.2.2.4.5 Sources of light radiation, i.e., welding, brazing, cutting, furnaces
etc.
5.2.2.4.6 Sources of falling objects or potential for dropping objects.
5.2.2.4.7 Sources of high noise.
5.2.2.4.8 Sources of sharp objects which might pierce the feet or cut the
hands.
5.2.2.4.9 Any electrical hazards.
5.2.2.4.10 Layout of workplace and location of workers.
5.2.2.5 Following the walk-through survey, organize the data and information for use
in the assessment of hazards. The objective is to prepare for an analysis of
the hazards at the worksite to enable proper selection of protective
equipment.
5.2.2.6 Having gathered and organized the data, an estimate of the potential for
injuries shall be made. Each of the basic hazards should be reviewed and a
determination made as to the type, level of risk, and seriousness of potential
injury from each of the hazards found in the work area. The possibility of
exposure to several hazards simultaneously shall be considered.
5.2.3 The Section Head shall review and approved the workplace hazard assessment that has
been performed with a written “Hazard Assessment Form”.
5.2.4 The Department / Section shall be re-assessed as necessary by identifying and
evaluating new equipment and processes, reviewing accident records, and re-evaluating
the suitability of previously selected PPE.
5.3. Types of PPE and its requirements
5.3.1 Head Protection
5.3.1.1 Safety Helmet shall be worn when there is potential for injury to the head from
falling objects. Some examples include working below other workers where
there is a potential for tools or materials to fall; working on, around or below
machinery or process which might cause material or objects to fall etc.

5.3.1.2 All head protection shall meet the requirements of the latest version of ANSI
Z89.1 or equivalent standard. When selecting head protection, knowledge of
potential electrical hazards in the work area must be considered.
5.3.1.3 Helmets should be manufactured from plastics. Metal safety helmets shall not
be worn.
5.3.1.4 Air supplied helmets should be worn when working with chemical sprays or
grit blasting.
5.3.1.5 Hard hats shall be properly adjusted. There shall be a minimum 37 mm
clearance between the top of the suspension cradle and the hard hat shell.
5.3.1.6 Earmuffs and welder’s shields shall be compatible with the hard hat.
5.3.1.7 Holes shall not be drilled in hard hats nor shall they be painted.
5.3.1.8 Hard hats shall be destroyed if they have been damaged, painted, have
holes, have had a sharp impact, or have been subjected to extreme heat.
5.3.2 Eye and Face Protection
5.3.2.1 Employees shall use appropriate eye or face protection when exposed to
hazards from flying particles, molten metal, liquid chemical splash, light
radiation etc.
5.3.2.2 Eye and face protection shall conform to latest version of ANSI Z87.1 standard
or equivalent standard.
5.3.2.3 With respect to eye protection, such equipment shall not have an adverse
effect on employee performance or otherwise increase the health or risk to
the employee.
5.3.2.4 Eye and face PPE shall be distinctly marked to facilitate identification of the
manufacturer.
5.3.2.5 All hazardous areas where eye protection is required area shall be posted
with appropriate warning signs in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.145.
5.3.2.6 Eye protection shall be worn by employees, contractors and visitors passing
through hazardous areas requiring eye protection.
5.3.2.7 Safety glasses shall have side protection when there is a hazard from flying
objects such as grinding, drilling etc.
5.3.2.8 The requirement for Prescription Safety Spectacles is covered by the
PR/CSF/CSS/P-042 (06.019).
5.3.2.9 All personnel working in hazardous areas shall familiarize on the need for and
use of eye protection.
5.3.2.10 Protective eye wear shall be properly maintained in clean and fully
operational condition.
5.3.2.11 Face shield shall be used in operations when the entire face needs protection
and should be worn to protect eyes and face against flying particles, metal
sparks, and chemical /biological splash.
5.3.2.12 Welding operations require special eye, face and neck protection for the
operator assistants. Fire-watchers will also require protection against ultraviolet
radiation.

5.3.2.13 Emergency eyewash facility shall be provided in all areas where employees
can be exposed to corrosive materials.

5.3.3 Hand Protection

5.3.3.1 Hand protection (gloves) shall be worn where there is a potential for injury to
the hands from exposure to hazards such as but not limited to those from skin
absorption of harmful substances, severe cuts or lacerations, severe
abrasions, punctures, chemical burns, thermal burns and harmful temperature
extremes.
5.3.3.2 Hand protection shall conform to EN or ANSI standard.
5.3.3.3 Gloves should be replaced periodically, depending on frequency of use and
permeability to the substances handles.
5.3.3.4 Selection of the gloves shall be based on the Hazard Assessment carried out.
5.3.3.5 Gloves should also be worn whenever it is necessary to handle rough or
sharp-edged objects, and very hot or very cold materials. The types of
glove materials to be used in these situations include leather, welder's
gloves, aluminum-backed gloves, and other types of insulated glove
materials.
5.3.3.6 Careful attention must be given to protecting your hands when working with
tools and machinery. Power tools and machinery must have guards installed
or incorporated into their design that prevent the hands from contacting the
point of operation, power train, or other moving parts. To protect the hands
from injury due to contact with moving parts, it is important to:
• Ensure that guards are always in place and used.
• Always lock out machines or tools and disconnect the power before
making repairs.
• Treat a machine without a guard as inoperative.
• Do not wear gloves around moving machinery, such as drill presses,
mills, lathes, and grinders.
5.3.3.7 Selection of hand PPE shall be based on an evaluation of the performance
characteristics of the hand protection relative to the task(s) to be
performed, conditions present, duration of use, and the hazards and
potential hazards identified. Gloves are often relied upon to prevent cuts,
abrasions, burns, and skin contact with chemicals that are capable of
causing local or systemic effects following dermal exposure.
5.3.3.8 It is also important to know the performance characteristics of gloves
relative to the specific hazard anticipated; e.g., chemical hazards, cut
hazards, flame hazards, etc.
5.3.3.9 The selection of gloves for use against chemicals shall determine the
exact nature of the chemicals to be encountered. Read instructions and
warnings on chemical container labels, Material Safety Data Sheets
(MSDSs), Material Hazard Bulletin (MHB) before working with any
chemicals.

5.3.3.10 All gloves materials are eventually permeated by chemicals. However,


they can be used safely for limited time periods, if specific use and glove
characteristics (i.e., thickness and permeation rate and time) are known.
The safety and occupational health personnel can assist in order to
determine the specific type of glove material that should be worn for a
particular chemical.

Note:

a. The toxic properties of the chemical(s) must be determined; in


particular, the ability of the chemical to cause local effects on the skin
and/or to pass through the skin and cause systemic effects.
b. Generally, any "chemical resistant" gloves can be used for dry
powders.
c. PVC gloves for handling acids/alkalis should be worn.
d. For mixtures and formulated products (unless specific test data are
available), a gloves should be selected on the basis of the chemical
component with the shortest breakthrough time, since it is possible for
solvents to carry active ingredients through polymeric materials.
e. Employees must be able to remove the gloves in such a manner as to
prevent skin contamination.
5.3.3.11 Rubber gloves shall be worn during electrical work. Protector gloves shall
be worn over insulating gloves except as following:
a. Protector gloves should not be used with Class 0 gloves, under limited-
use conditions, where small equipment and parts manipulation
necessitate unusually high finger dexterity.
b. Any other class of glove may be used for similar work without protector
gloves if the department can demonstrate the possibility of physical
damage is small and if the class of glove is one class higher than that
required for the voltage involved. Insulating gloves that have been
used without protector gloves may not be used at their rated voltage
until they have been tested.
Note: Extra care is needed in the visual examination of the glove and when sharp objects
are handled.
5.3.4 Hearing Protection
5.3.4.1 Hearing loss results from over-exposure to excessive noise levels.
Engineering and Mechanical methods of reducing noise levels must be
considered, to control the noise hazard.
5.3.4.2 Everyone entering a designated hearing protection area must wear
suitable hearing protection.
5.3.4.3 Hearing protection shall conform to ANSI or equivalent standard.
5.3.4.4 Earmuffs are in the form of a pair of rigid cups designed to completely
envelop the ears and supplied with soft sealing rings to fit closely against
the head round the ears. Ear muffs can be worn independently or as
attachments to a hard hat and in addition to earplugs.

5.3.4.5 The ear cups are connected by a spring loaded head band which ensures
that a good seal around the ears is maintained.
5.3.4.6 Ear plugs are soft plugs inserted in the ears to give protection against
noise. They are also provided with end plastic wires for easy removal from
ears.
Note: Earplugs worn by one person must never be worn by another.

5.3.5 Body Protection

5.3.5.1 Rubber/PVC apron with sleeves is used to give protection against chemicals
and a leather apron is used to give protection against slags/sparks.
5.3.5.2 A chemical resistant coverall is used to give protection against chemicals.
5.3.5.3 Aluminized suits are used to give protection against pyrophoric chemical
handling.
5.3.5.4 Flame-resistant clothing is used to minimize burn injury during short term and
Emergency exposure to flame or electric arc. The primary function of FRC is
to eliminate or reduce the effects of burning clothing in contact with the skin.
5.3.5.5 Body protection shall conform to EN or equivalent standard. Flame resistant
clothing (FRC) shall meet the requirement of: EN11612/ NFPA 2113 / NFPA
2112
Note: 1. Contaminated coveralls should be disposed of.
2. In all places where acids or corrosive liquids are used or handled,
emergency water showers shall be provided.
5.3.6 Respiratory Protection
5.3.6.1 Air purifying particulate filters are to be used for dusts, mists, fumes and
smoke etc. such as dust mask.
5.3.6.2 Air purifying sorbent filters are to be used for gases and vapors such as
canister type and cartridge type gas mask.
5.3.6.3 Airline respirator or supplied air respirator gives better protection from the air
borne toxic contaminants or where there is an oxygen deficiency.
5.3.6.4 Employees shall wear SCBA whenever a potential inhalation hazard exists as
defined by limits stated on Work Permit forms. Their use must be practiced at
least monthly and the time required to put it on must be recorded.
5.3.6.5 Respiratory protection shall conform to NIOSH or equivalent standard.
5.3.7 Fall Protection
5.3.7.1 Full body harnesses with shock-absorbing lanyard shall be used when
work is performed above ground levels (1.8 m or more); if a guard rail
system is not in place and/or in confined spaces. See PRC GI on
“Requirements for Scaffoldings”.
5.3.7.2 Fall protection shall conform to ANSI Z359.1 or equivalent standard.
5.3.8 Foot Protection
5.3.8.1 Protective footwear shall be worn in areas there is a danger of falling or
rolling objects, or objects piercing the sole as but not limited to:

a. Routinely lifting or moving heavy objects or materials.


b. Working in areas where forklifts or powered vehicles are used.
c. Working in restricted areas.
5.3.8.2 Non-conductive foot protection shall be worn where the employee’s feet
get exposed to electrical hazards.

5.3.8.3 Boots shall be worn where the employee’s feet exposed to acid/alkali
hazards.

5.3.8.4 Protective footwear shall meet the requirements of the latest version of
ANSI Z41 or equivalent standard.
Note: Electrical technicians shall be provided with non-conductive safety shoes.
5.4 Working Over Water
5.4.1 When work is being carried out where there is a risk of falling into the water, a lifejacket
shall be worn.
5.4.2 Approved lifejackets must be worn by all personnel travelling on or over water.
5.4.3 Lifejackets must be secured in the approved fashion.
5.4.4 Lifejackets must comply with an appropriate standard, be inspected regularly and before
use, and maintained in good condition.

5.5 Issue of FRC clothing


5.5.1 FRC uniforms and coverall shall be issued to PRC employees as mentioned in below

5.6 Issue of Basic Safety PPEs - Hard Hat or Safety Helmet, and Safety Shoes
5.6.1 Hard Hat or Safety Helmet, and Safety Shoes shall be issued to PRC employees as
mentioned in below table:

5.7 Maintenance
5.7.1 PPE must be maintained in an efficient state. The level of inspection or maintenance with
respect to PPE will be determined by the type of equipment used and the conditions in
which it is used.
5.8 Storage
5.8.1 PPE must be stored correctly. The storage shall be adequate to protect the equipment
from damage or contamination.
5.8.2 Items of PPE which are stored ready for use shall be kept separate from that which is
awaiting repair or maintenance.
5.9 Replacement
5.9.1 Employees shall regularly inspect their PPE and replace as required due to the following
reasons:
5.9.1.1 Due to normal wear and tear

5.9.1.2 Should any specific damage occur which compromises the effectiveness of
the equipment (e.g., contamination)
5.9.1.3 If item is lost; or
5.9.1.4 Where an item has a specific use-by-date, it should be replaced prior to that
date.
5.9.2 The employee is required to notify his supervisor in writing (e.g. by email) of his
requirements for replacement as noted above. If an item is damaged, the item requiring
replacement should be presented to his supervisor.
5.10 Training for the Use of PPE
5.10.1 It is a requirement that employees issued with PPE are provided with the relevant
information, instruction and training as required.
5.10.2 SCBA users must take the training provided by Fire Protection Section before its use.
5.11 Procurement of PPE
5.11.1 Each Department / Section shall procure required PPE through the established
procedure (SAP system) by using approved specification with material code numbers
available in the PR safety portal.
