English 7 – EB2 Sir Dennis Corbita

I speak for the trees

The movie “The Lorax” is about a village which is deprived of nature and uses virtual and
synthetic alternatives such as plastic to provide the needs of the villagers on a daily basis. My
initial thoughts about the movie after watching the trailer is that the movie has good color scheme,
packed with adventure and humor and lastly a message concerning the environment.

A boy named Ted lives in the village of Thneedville where nature is non-existent and
virtual and synthetic alternatives run their daily needs. He has a crush on his neighbor Audrey and
in order to win her heart he needs to bring her a tree. Ted then asked his mother and grandmother
about where to find a tree and his grandmother know exactly where. Ted then went to the place
his grandmother told him on where he can find a tree.

The movie was fun because of the adventures of Ted on his objective to get a tree seed
which was thrilling, Furthermore the movie was adorable because of the other side characters
present like when Once-ler arrived was at the forest and bears were there.

My Favorite scene in the movie was the ending when the Lorax came down from the sky
through a light and stood on top of the rock with the word engraved “unless” and The Lorax said
“you done good, Beanpole.” It was the best scene in the movie because of the element of surprise
by The Lorax on visiting Once-ler and the cinematography where the lighting on the Lorax coming
down from the sky is picturesque, the dialogue and emotion between the two characters was really
happy and striking to the viewer and lastly, the atmosphere around them was calm and peaceful

Out of all the characters in the movie Ted gave the best performance of them all. Ted is
one of the protagonists in the movie. He is an opportunity-seeker, risk-taker and brave. An
opportunity-seeker because in order to win Audrey’s heart he needs to bring her a tree and his
grandmother knows the person to approach to. Risk-taker because he went to the outskirts just to
find the person who has tree seed. Ted is brave, even though he was warned and threatened by the
most powerful person in Thneedville he still pursued getting the tree seed. One striking line from
Ted that proves he is brave is when he said “I am Ted Wiggins and I speak for the trees”.

The rating I can give to this movie is 5 stars. The movie successfully relayed a message on
showing care for the environment as well change on the characters perspective about trees. I
recommend others to watch this inspiring movie as it will surely leave you valuable lessons and
points to ponder after watching.

Overall, the movie “The Lorax” is an inspirational movie relaying a message on taking
care of our environment. It is fun with lots of adventures and perspectives packed with humor that
will surely blow you away and has a great cinematography. The movie is recommended to viewers
of all ages and is surely worth your time as it will bring one a valuable lesson after watching.
