Reflection Paper #13

The Rule of Leader Example:

Delisting the Corporate Coward

“Practice what you preach,” is what we always hear from people when they see a leader
not doing what he instructs his subordinates. Saint Benedict taught us that we should lead
by example and not just by words.

In reality, talk is cheap. Talk is meaningless unless we see actions complementing those
words. Words without actions are confusing. We do not realize how powerful are actions
are. Some people see other people as hypocrites. People like condemning other people
when in fact, the only thing they do is condemn. They also live sinfully and act like their
spotless righteous people. That is why other people stumble.

By applying Rule 2 of the Rules of Saint Benedict, we will realize how important to live
by words coupled with actions. We need to be the role model; to show them how to do
the things we instruct them. We must also show them compassion when they have
shortcomings.

People, nowadays, do not take responsibilities. When people fail, they blame other
people. They may blame their nosy subordinates; their parents; friends; even the weather,
but never themselves.

A good leader takes responsibility. Instead of getting angry, we should show them how to
do it.

In this world full of people condemning other people, let’s love people like how Jesus
Christ loved us, no matter how sinful we are.
