Cultural Function
This painting represents the culture of Filipinos – showing an everyday scene at every
market place. It is shown that there are people who bring their children in the market whilst
selling their items, some people also bring their rooster to be sold while market goers bring their
basket to hold their stuffs. This is a very common situation in our local markets, and so it became
an identity

Art as Mimesis
Art as mimesis means that art is an imitation on the action of life. It is obvious that the artist
successfully imitates the everyday scene in the local market where there are a lot market goers
bringing their basket and there are also people who brings their rooster, some bring their child
while trying to sell their items.
