DAILY LESSON PLAN Grade Level: 11

Teacher: CLASS A
Learning Area: Biology I
Teaching Date: May 17, 2017
Quarter: I

OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards: The learners demonstrate an understanding of:

Cell cycle

a. Mitosis
b. meiosis

B. Performance Standards: Construct a cell membrane model from indigenous or recyclable

materials

C. Learning Competencies: Describe the stages of mitosis/ meiosis given 2n=6

STEM_BIO11/12-Id-f-7

At the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to:

A. Identify the different stages of mitosis/meiosis

B. Describe the phases of meiosis
C. Create a tabular comparison between mitosis / meiosis

PROCEDURES

A. Reviewing previous Introduce a simplified life cycle of a human being or plant. Let the
lesson or presenting learners identify the changes throughout the different stages and
the new lesson
how these organisms grow and develop.

B. Establishing a The teacher will show a video demonstrating animal and plant

lesson
C. Presenting
examples/instances
of the new lesson

D. Discussing new Facilitate a lecture discussion on the general concepts of cell

concepts and division through power point presentation.
practicing new skills  Discuss the stages of mitosis and meiosis

E. Discussing New Make a tabular comparison of stages of mitosis and meiosis.

concepts and
practicing new skill
2
F. Developing mastery The teacher will present a tabular comparison between mitosis
and meiosis to point the significance of the two types of
division. Divide the class into two groups and ask them about
their opinions on their applications of mitosis and meiosis. (15
minutes)

Basis of Comparison Mitosis Meiosis

1. Type of cell where the process
occurs
2. Number of cell division
3. Number of chromosomes (2 sets
/ I set)
4. Number of daughter cells
produced per parent cell

G. Finding practical ACTIVITY WORKSHEET

applications of ONION ROOT TIP INVESTIGATION
concepts and skills Results and Interpretation: Draw the cells that you have examined under the
in daily living different stages inside each box. In the table, write the number of cells that you
have identified (including the percentage) under high power magnification.

Guide Questions:
1. What are the different stages in mitosis that you were able to observe?
2.Which phase do majority of the cells undergo?
3. What made you recognize that a cell is under interphase?
4. What are the different cellular structures that can be easily identify and difficult
to identify?

H. Making CONCEPT MAPPING OF STAGES OF MITOSIS & MIEOSIS

generalizations and
abstractions about CELL
the lesson

MITOSIS MEIOSIS

I. Evaluating learning Write FACT if the statement is correct and BLUFF if it is not.

1. ________ During the three sub phases, the cell grows by producing proteins and
cytoplasmic organelles enabling the cell to prepare for the cell division.
2._________ In prophase 2 of meiotic division, pairing of homologous
chromosomes and crossing over occur to trade segments of their chromosomes.

3. _________ In metaphase of mitosis, the homologous chromosomes aligned to

the metaphase plate while the microtubules on the opposite poles attached to

the homologue.

4. ________ During prophase, the nucleus and chromatin fiber become tightly
coiled which forms into chromosomes while the nuclear membrane and nucleus
disappear.
