the customers in managing their bank accounts and finances. PBO will be responsible for building
long-term relationships with clients and cross-selling them a products and services of Meezan

PBO should be excellent communicators with solid knowledge of banking processes and products
because PBO is sitting on the front desk of the branch and 60% customers entered in the branch

succeed in the role. So as a PBO intern, we should make daily calls to our existing customers. We
have divided the customers into three categories, head management, middle management, and

tail management. The record the customers shown in the system. We pitched car ijarah and
home finances products or investment criteria to top customers of the branch and convince them
to maintain the account to become the premium customer of Meezan Islamic Bank. Then, we
pitched consumer home financing products to middle management customers and make calls on
low balance account to maintain and deposit into account and use these accounts and make sure
with calm and soft words asking about any complaint regarding the customer handling in the
branch because PBO’s primarily responsibility is to satisfy the customer needs and maintain the
relation with them. The purpose of doing all these things is to contribute into the whole deposit
amount of meezan Islamic bank.

As well as during my internship period I wasn’t just stick on PBO intern duties and responsibilities,

Recommendations
As far as I observed in my training period, the employees should be properly facilitated so that
they may feel satisfied as they are the assets of the MBL which must be motivated by the
management of the bank. Incentive should be given in the shape of rewards, increase in pay or
promotion etc. as the employees of the bank are hardworking and loyal the bank will make
progress by leaps and bounds. There are some more suggestions for Meezan Bank Limited. These
suggestions are based on experience with the bank.

As I observed, everything is excellent but Meezan bank should change their old office equipment
with new technological equipment. Increase the number of staffs in each branch to make sure
that customer will never wait for a 1 or 2 hours, because if customer will be gone, he will never
come back.

This is a routine practice that in order to give personalized services to the customer bank staff
tries to fill all the columns of AOF with their own handwriting which is wrong. AOF must be
filled in by the customers. Bankers should avoid filling in the AOF because it can create
problem if the address, title of account or any other information provided by the customer
has not been written properly. Customer may be affected, or he may claim that this
information was not provided by him, but if AOF is filled by the customer then banker cannot
be held responsible for any incorrect information provided by the customer.

Marketing Practices Adopted by Bank

Nowadays marketing of products is of prime importance for any organization. In this dynamic
environment every organization has its own Marketing Department which is responsible for
creating the demand of its goods and services.

Nowadays banks also have their marketing departments which are responsible for creating
demand of their products i.e. their deposit schemes and increasing the deposit of the bank.

Meezan Bank Limited has its own full marketing Department at the Head Office Karachi. This
department prepares different deposit schemes for its customers time to time in order to
increase the business of the bank. At branch level the Operations Department follows
marketing practices. At each branch of bank officers are available to provide marketing
activities of their products.

They make customer calls and personally visit the potential customer to convince them to invest.
They make phone calls to customers and inform them about their schemes, profit rates.

Conclusion
Meezan Islamic bank is working on the mission and vision of Riba Free services in Pakistan to
provide the best services to their customers according to the sharia compliance. For the working
procedures and policies were quite up to the mark in the Meezan Bank, Bin Qasim Branch and
are completely accordance with the establish policies and practices under sharia compliance.
Bank is providing better services to the customers and as well as better facilities to its employees
which resulting in the efficient and honest working towards their job, employees are making
uttering efforts to increase the profit of the company on year to year basis as well as time their
best to increase the wealth of the shareholders. In the end, this internship helps me a lot to
improve my lacking areas as well as I understand the whole branch banking and now, I feel that
it will be so helpful for my entire career that I feel confident to do a banking job in future.
I hope/wish to be a part of Meezan house in future Insha’Allah
