Methods of Use
- inhaling - oral intake
- sniffing - injecting

Drug and Crime


- According to Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB), 75% of all crimes are involved/related
to drugs

Common Drug Crimes


- robbery - rape
- murder

Adverse Effects of Substance Abuse


- changes in performance in school - wearing glasses in inappropriate
- sudden or unusual flare-ups times
- escape from responsibilities - wearing of long sleeves
- change in attitude - always borrows money (or
- associate with other drug abusers robs/steals)
- deterioration of physical grooming - becomes more secretive
- always leaving for rest room
Side Effects
- losing concentration - affects learning and memory
- affects motor performance - also affects in all aspects (mental,
- hallucination emotional, and physical health)
- affects emotion and moods

Behavioral Side Effects


- outward manifestation of - always thinking of how to get to
emotions drugs

Psychological Effects
- denial - anti-motivational symptoms
- paranoia - delusions and hallucinations

Physical Effects
- bloodshot or glassy eyes - slurred or rapid speech
- drowsiness - interferes to the function of the
- drastic loss of weight immune system
Commonly Abused Drugs
- Alcohol - Tranquilizers
- Inhalant - Hallucinogens
- Cocaine - Shabu
- Marijuana

• Alcohol results in: circulatory and respiratory failure, forgetfulness, liver and brain
damage, relaxation, euphoria, improving other side effects, excitation, confusion,
and muscle dysfunction
• Marijuana results in: hallucination, euphoria, short term memory loss, birth defects
(on pregnant women), fast pulse rate and heart rate
• Tranquilizers result in: slurred speech, disorientation, and apathy
• Hallucinogens (ecstasy/LCD) result in: behavioral change, blood vessel breakage,
brain damage, flashbacks, fainting
• Shabu results in: highness, increased mental alertness, faintfulness, convulsions,
depression, heart failures, insomnia, paranoia, increased body temperature, heart
rate, diminished appetite, increased energy, and anxiety

Multiple Drug Use


- Marijuana and Alcohol – more - Inhalants and Marijuana –
increasing effect (strength) increasing doses
- Shabu and Alcohol – extreme high - Amphetamines and Sedatives –
and low paranoia and more intense fatal
effect

To Avoid
- Never start
- Avoid peer users and abusers
- STRENGTHEN family relation
- Seek advice in difficult situations
- Discover productive diversions
