Key Signatures
In some music, you will find a Sharp or Flat placed before the Time Signature.
This means that particular note must be played sharp or flat for the entire piece.
This is called the Key Signature.

Slur a curved line over 2 or more note which means to play those notes legato
Tie a curved joining 2 same notes, which means to hold the first note for the
combined value of both the notes.
D.C. al Fine this means to go back to the Beginning and play till Fine (the end).

PIANO PEDALS
Variable pedal marks, seen as /\_/\ , are placed under notes, and define the precise pattern
in which the sustain pedal is depressed and released.
• Horizontal lines show when the sustain pedal is depressed.
• Diagonal lines indicate a quick, temporary release of the sustain pedal.
As seen in the Example below, the Damper Pedal is held down for the full 3 beats of the third bar
and quickly lifted and put back down between the 3rd and 4th bar; and so on.
