PROPOSAL

Synopsis:

We would be investigating the effects of what the tropicana has had on people
over the recent years, we would be interviewing as many people as possible to
get a good insight of people’s opinions of the tropicana but also to see what
people think of the tropicana and how it has impacted their lives.

Purpose:

The purpose of our documentary is to give an insight into the history of the
tropicana and how it has affected the public’s lives over the years and how
they have dealt with the different events and transitions that have happened
to the tropicana over the last few years so we are aiming to make our
documentary objective.

Viewpoint:
The viewpoint of our documentary is going to be objective as we will be
looking at both sides of the argument, the positives and negatives over the
recent events that have happened, we are doing this to give the audience a fair
perspective of the tropicana and what they think.

Contributors involved: Owner/runner of the tropicana: they have organised

the events over the recent years seeing the transition happen right in front of
them, know the history and the future of the tropicana.

staff: worked there at certain events so will understand how much the
tropicana has and changed and that if the tropicana really has given itself a
more positive outlook.

Public: interviewing the public to see if the tropicana has affected them
(positively or negatively); and how it has affected them but would interview all
sorts of generations.

Examples of similar documentaries:

One example of a similar documentary is smoke on the water; smoke on the

water is a documentary about the grand pier where they look at the history of
the grand pier and the plans they had about the future of the grand pier e.g.
they showed a document of the plan they had to build the grand pier; they also
go and interview the public to see what they think of the grand pier design and
how it has affected them on top of that the crew also interviewed people from
different generations to get objective views this makes it similar to our
documentary as it has the same sort of approach that we have and they’re
looking at a Weston-Super-Mare landmark as we are as well.

Target audience:

The target audience for our documentary is anyone really and we are
interviewing anyone as this makes the documentary a lot more objective as we
will be getting many different views/opinions on the tropicana, from all sorts
of generations which is good as we don’t want the documentary turning
subjective, by interviewing all sorts of different generations we get a good
outlook on what people’s views of the tropicana are e.g. some of the older
generations might prefer the original tropicana when it was a swimming pool
however in contrast to that some of the younger generation might prefer the
newer generation where it is (at this current moment) a theme park which is
made for the younger generation so this could also please parents as well.
