Excellency

I am pleased to refer to the Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal


Matters with Exchange of Notes signed at Washington on 6 January 19941, as
amended by Exchange of Notes dated 30 April and 1 May 2001.

I have the honour to propose that, in accordance with Article 20 (1)(b), this
Treaty apply to the Isle of Man, for whose international relations the United
Kingdom is responsible. For the purpose of mutual assistance under the Treaty the
Central Authority for the Isle of Man shall be the Attorney General for the Isle of
Man and for the United States of America shall be the Attorney General of the
United States of America.

If the above proposal is acceptable to the Government of the United States of


America, I have the honour to suggest that this Note and your Excellency’s reply to
that effect shall constitute an Agreement between our two Governments which shall
enter into force on the date of your reply.

I avail myself of this opportunity to renew to Your Excellency the assurances


of my highest consideration.

enter into force on this date.
