In this document, I discus the difference between the nature of teams works in a organization.

Following are types of teams normally exist in a organization

 Functional Operating Team

 Cross Functional Team
 Self Management Team
 Virtual Team

Let’s go for these Teams definition and difference. I will explain these team differences against
Functional Operating Team.

Functional Operating Team is a team in which members have a such job in which they are
specialized. These teams have existence duration long term. In this type of team Leader is
responsible for internal operations and also for external relation with management of the
organization.

 Now talk about cross functional team, as the word state that cross functional means
people from different department. In such type of teams we take employees from
different departments and make an effective team for a specific project and for a specific
time. The major difference between Cross Functional Team and Functional Operating
Team is, Cross Functional Team has high diversity of members in fictional background
and Functional Operating Team has low.
 Self management Team has such type of nature which has all responsibilities will go for a
single person. And he is answerable of that team work and performance. In this types of
teams everything is manage by a responsible person (manager or owner of the
organization). Authority in such type of team will not transfer to other person and all
control will also not transfer. The major difference between Self Management Team and
Functional Operating Team is, authority of internal leader is low in Self Management
Team while Functional Operating Team has high.
 Virtual Teams are such teams in which members has no limit of geographic region. In
these teams people from different geographic region connect with each other on a
specific project for a specific time. The main advantage of such teams we can add expert
of concern field from all over the world. Technology become much sophisticated and
available to everyone at anywhere which enables us to do this. Here technology means
internet. The major difference between Virtual Team and Functional Operating Team is,
Virtual Team has high ratio of diversity of members and autonomy for determine
objective and mission while and Functional Operating Team has low.
