IDEA PROPOSAL FORMAT

e-Yantra Ideas Competition 2019-20

Project Name:

Smart warehouse management

Introduction/Motivation:
In this ergonomic society it is essential that our technology supports our fast
paced life styles. This project aims to automate almost the entire process of
warehouse. Smart warehouse systems, are the result of the various
interconnected warehousing technologies working together. They form a
vocational ecosystem where goods are acquired, analyze, sorted, organized and
pulled for shipment automatically. The smart warehouse solutions automate
almost the entire operation with least possible errors.

Market Research / Literature Survey:

Technologies currently use in warehouse

Machine-to-Machine Technology
➢ Order Fulfillment Optimization Technology

o Pick-to-Light Systems

o Put-to-Light Systems

➢ Warehouse Robotics Technology

➢ Voice Tasking Technology

➢ Labor Management Systems

Warehouse management system functionality

Hardware requirements:

 RFID Reader/card

 Wi-Fi module

 Conveyor Belt

 Microcontroller

 Rack and pinion

 Dc Motor

 Motor Driver

Software requirements:

 Arduino IDE- for coding

 Dip trace- is used design schematic and layout and Milling Machine is
used to fabricate PCB

 JDK-8 for website development

 Mysql for database

Implementation:

The aim of this project is to cut down the manual labor in a warehouse. This
will achieve by automating the entire warehouse.

For automation in warehouse most important is getting order from anywhere for
that website will be used. In this website user first find items which they want
and add to cart user can see only those which are available in warehouse then
after all checks they can place order. After placing order site also generates bill
at same time.

Once the Order is successfully placed after all checks and their orders and bills
will send to administrator PC via Internet then order will update on database
and data is transferred to controller via Wi-Fi.

The system consists of multiple conveyor belt, which help items to reach
counter from their original place in minimum amount of time. A conveyor belt
is attached in such a way that when item is push off the rack then conveyor belt
pick that item, for pushing mechanism rack and pinion arrangement will be used
to push items from rack. And with the help of pushing mechanism(rack and
pinion, motor) and conveyor belt item will reach counter without any human
involvement, both conveyor belt and pushing mechanism get command form
controller whenever an order is placed by customer then both conveyor belt and
pushing mechanism start working and when all items reach counter it
automatically stops.

When all item reach counter then it will be packed manually with pre-calculated
bill.

Feasibility:
Current scenario warehouse management system is that it is a completely
manual system that is used for managing inventory processing & worker are
counted on to constantly carry items from Point 1 to point 2. Worker have been
likely to handle a product several times. This taking up too much time that could
be spent doing more important tasks. When worker rely on inaccurate
information also leading to inefficient processes. Consumption of a lot of man
power due picking items, managing manual work of inventory information. In
order to automate the entire process of warehouse and provide an optimal
solution. We come up with an idea of smart ware house management system the
we kept record of inventory information, product available or not via software
and product reached to counter automatically though conveyor belt. Optimal
results with the added advantage to reduce man power consumption and manual
work. System is capable to provide reports on monthly basis.
