Harmony 2 Final Project

1. Write a tune in lead sheet format


● Any song form, any length, at least 16 bars
● Any style
● Any key, major or minor, no modulation
● Any time signature or harmonic rhythm

2. Melody line
● Write 8 bar phrases with antecedent, consequent and melodic cadence
content
● Include 3 to 6 motifs; bracket and number
● Incorporate at least 2 of the motivic repetition techniques and label them
inside the bracketed motifs where they occur
● Include approach notes in the melody
● Include at least 2 tensions in the melody

3. Harmony (chord changes)


● Use diatonic triads and/or seventh chords
● Use at least one secondary dominant
● Use at least one "special purpose" seventh chord (Aug 7th, Dim 7th,
minor/major 7th, Dom 7, Sus 4)
● Use at least one modal interchange chord
● Use at least one deceptive resolution
● Include harmonic tensions on at least 2 chords (Mark them in the chord
symbols)
● Include Roman numeral analysis brackets and arrows
